Against Portugal we did shit, almost of the match was in iran last 30 meters with an occasion of Portugal every 3 minutes. The only good thing we did was the first half against Mexico (like the first half against yougoslavia in 98).
Japan was s*** because their was against a team which was very physical, tall compared to them and agressive.

    Let's not re-write the history.

Japan gave a very hard time to Netherlands in 2010 and lost via a lucky deflection. They also beat 2 very decent teams in Cameroon and Denmark. Only failed to reach the last 8 in penalty-shoot outs against Paraguay.

Had Japan played a B team in Doha, and lost to Iraq....then the complexions of that group would have been VERY different.

well done to Japan for being professional. Confed. is a glorified friendly tournament....WCQ more important.
Yeah, I thought Iraq was already out for the first 3 places. My mistake

We have yet to confirm this, as we will know after Tuesdays match. However I agree that we are on the rise again slowly but surely

Fairplay, the result of this match would have had direct effect on other teams of the group, how tolerant all of us would be should Qatar send their B team to face Uzbekistan on Tuesday? it would definitely be very unfair to both us and Korea. Japan has always been a super class-act team for I always admire them!

On a side note, both S. Korea and Japan in the past few years have noticeably dropped some of their past quality, for Korea it's somewhat understandable as they lost some of they key players due to retiring from NT, however Japan's drop is unjustifiable, the luckily drew Australia in the added time by a Penalty shot, and last week they barely managed to defeat a weakened Iraqi side, not to mention their disappointing club display of this year's ACL.
