Yes it is and he could join the team after the summer league almost 10 days before the tournament but coach clearly said only players who have participated in training sessions along with all other players have a place in his system.Originally posted by chichinaldo View PostAnyone know why Arsalan Kazemi is not with the national team? Is it simply because he has signed with a new team and he wants to fit in more with his team before joining the national team or does he not want to play with the team unless it's the olympics?

If you are talking about a possible matchup in the semis, it was already set after Iran beat China in the first round. There was no way Kazakstan, Bahrain or India would beat any one of Iran, Korea or China.Originally posted by Ab-Gosht View Postits set, iran vs china in semis!
And China already in the semis? No, I think it's far from set. The way China has been playing in this tournament they will have a tough matchup against the first placed team from the other group (whether it will be Philippines, Taiwan or Qatar). They will surely be the favorites, but they have not been impressive at all. Their Greek coach has had problem syncronizing this team and their star player and NBA-veteran Yi Jianlian is playing with a serious injury.
Also, let's not jinx ourselves an early exit like last time. Iran will go up against Jordan or Japan, and the former always plays good against us. Even though they have a young and inexperienced team this time they shouldn't be underestimated.

In 2011, I somehow knew Jordan would be a terrible match-up for Iran and posted a reply in the game thread about not taking them with ease (the results prior to that game indicated that Iran would walkover Jordan). I based this on earlier meetings between the two sides, in which the games always went down the wire, usually with Iran prevailing. But I never thought they would defeat us, because Iran (who most likely had its best squad ever) was demolishing every team and no team was close in terms of match-up, not even China.Originally posted by Kaveh11 View PostWhat are your predictions in Iran v Jordan?
This time around I stick my neck out and say that Iran will win +15 points. This Jordanian team lacks that experience that the 2011 had and also their stars in Daghlas, Abbas or Wright who all had great performances against Iran. Also this time around, I think the Iranian players have learnt from the past (hopefully) to not underestimate an opponent again, particullary Jordan. I think they will be extra motivated as well because of last time.
The only way to stop (a motivated) Iran in this tourney will be if a team scores from the 3 constantly.

Jordan have a weak team this year - 2 of there star players are injured. This has been a very disappointing competition for me. There has been no Lebanon who would have been Iran's major opponents, and arguably have one of their best teams ever right now. All the games have been and will be walkovers and this gives us little practice for playing in international competitions where the opposition are considerably better than us.Originally posted by persian-eagle-13 View Postiran better dismantle Jordan on Friday!! Jordan always gives iran problems in basketball, they are like Bahrain in Football when they play with us. I wish we had AK with the team, the team can use his leadership and experience. HH is just hopeless right now!!Please join and support Iran Rugby on Facebook.
