how is this any different than if the US hosts the world cup? or russia in 2018?
the cities are spread out the same way
its pretty much the same in brazil 2014 too, none of the cities are very close to each other in a tiny country like france/england/germany

Why are some so against this finally good idea Platini's UEFA is implementing? If they develop the idea to become similar to UCL then for once local fans of every team that participates can catch the games without having to go to commiefascistville and stay in dirty hostels sleeping in flea infested beds. The Fifa supremo has criticised European football's governing body's idea to hold the tournament in several countries
Fifa president Sepp Blatter has hit out at Uefa's initiative to organise Euro 2020 in 13 different cities across Europe rather than in one country.

The 2020 championships will be held in multiple nations all over Europe to mark 60 years of the tournament's existence, a decision that has received its fair share of criticism over the past few months, and Blatter would prefer the tournament to be held in one country, too.

"I once told Michel Platini that Colonel Gaddafi presented a similar plan when he was bidding for the 2010 World Cup. He really believes in this idea, but I said it was out of the question. So Platini's idea is nothing new," Blatter told Kicker.

"A tournament should be played in just one country, that creates a certain identity and euphoria. Just look at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

"It will not really be a European championship in the new format. You'll have to look at it in another way, although I don't know how exactly. A Euros like this misses heart and soul for me."

The host cities for Euro 2020 will be announced by Uefa in September 2014.

i personally like the idea of being spread across europe. gives us a chance to visit different countries. Eitherway, europe in the summer is not the same, most locals leave town on vacation so its full of tourists.

It's part what the fans experience, part what the host country experiences. Right now for a host city that gets a couple of games it's no different than hosting 1 leg of a Champions League game. It loses its importance.

but u see problem is not every country wants to build big ass stadiums. they cant fill them up after the tournament and they are very hard to maintain. Thats what happend to Italy...for 1990 world cup they built bunch of big stadiums and for some cities now they are too big to fill up each game and they are getting out dated. So they have to demolish them and build new ones.

so they are doing this just for their 60th anniversary. only for that year it'll be like that. after it will go back to being hosted in one or two countries.

at Azerbaijan, they aren't even Europe..imagine playing two games in the groupstage which one is in Brussels and the other one is in Baku, massive fuck up and you"ll have to travel 4/5 hours to play a game or see your national team playing.

So..... 2018 World Cup may suck, 2022 world cup if not moved which it should be will be the worse thing in the history of football, and 2020 Euro will be terrible too. Great.

I think the places chosen had to do with money. My Azeri friend says azerbaijan paid to get the hosting and their people are starving. im pretty sure most of those chosen cities are for promotion....mixed with some big ones like london, munich, rome, amsterdam
