What are you talking about in the 1976 summer olympics (the last one of the shahs time) we only had 2 medals one bronze and one silver, I hate this government just as much as you but don't try to glorify the shah. The fact is that our athletes put their heart, effort, blood, and sweat into representing their country so we shouldn't try to take anything away from that.

no doubt ... i was watching turkey vs. USA in women's VB over the weekend and couldn't help but think that exact same thing ... our beautiful, sar-boland, shir-zan would have nothing less than turkey's.

Why is that? Why are Iranian lifters so much weaker in snatch compared to C&J? This seems to be the case with all of them.

In most other weightlifting tournaments it seems that C&J and Snatch are counted as separate disciplines. You can become a champion in just one of them. In the Olympics, they are obviously combined. It may be the case that Iranians just focus and train more for C&J.
