The whole Lalas is an idiot thing is a bandwagon started on the internet by europeans who cant stand americans talking about football no matter if they are right.

Having said the above I enjoy and agree with Ballacks view point. I think thats also partially attributed to my bias I have in favor of europeans over americans when it comes to football.

I really didn't see any destruction. Ballack was giving the opinion of a fan who wanted to see pretty soccer. Lalas was giving the opinion of a coach who wanted to get a point against a superior team. Given the context of the game, Lalas's point is more valid as pretty soccer won't help you advance to the quarterfinals without points to accompany it.
