but germany used to play in green at some point, maybe it was during the east/west germany era. I wasnt around back then.

germany always played in green, it only changed from wc 2006 onwards!

A German newspaper has revealed secrets of the next national team’s away shirt that will be worn for the European Championships in 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, and that it will be green. A colour that is set to be popular with fans as it has brought the team success in the past and is considered the traditional away colour for Germany.



The shirt isnt set to be revealed until 29th of February 2012 and will remain a closely guarded secret by German manufacturers Adidas. However it is believed that the shirt will resemble the shirts worn in the early 1970s, considered the greatest era for Germany, of green shirts with white round collars.

Team coach Oliver Bierhoff is satisfied with the decision. After three meetings with Adidas, it was easy to decide on what colour the next shirt should be. Because: “Green is currently very trendy,” says the DFB Manager, the polls had shown the sports goods manufacturer and the magazine “11 Freunde” has recently asked the fans which shirt they would like to see the Loew-boys. 53 percent were in favor of green. Bierhoff is certain that the adidas-shirt will be a success. “I think the jerseys are a cult.” Then so nothing can go wrong at Euro 2012.

I think it was when it was West/East Germany.. It hasn't been Green much lately in the national team, I can't remember.

my guess is that they will release the new black kits for the rest of 2011/early 2012 and then go to the green for euro 2012...a shame, germany in black struck fear in the world's heart during wc 2010
