when they were scoring and he tripped over and stumbled and incidently fell on the ball? watch the replay again pique is tumbling over and suddenly sees the ball under him. if he wanted to handball it it was within reach of him just before the guy finished it offOriginally posted by radin119 View Postspain got lucky it was a handball by pique right before the goal he should have been sent off and it should have been a penalty

This spanish team has the same weakness as Barca; They play fantastic passing football and 95% of the time that is enough for a win (their 45 win out of 48 game record before this game is a record matched by no other current team), but they have no plan B if the other team play a Mourinho style of play (closed, organized, counterattacking football).
Aside from Alonso's shot that hit the bar and another by Iniesta in the first half, they didn't have any serious attempts at the goal from outside the box. Sure Del Bosque brought in Navas, but the guy got the ball maybe 10 times and he did the same thing over and over again. They are still probably going to make it out of the group, but there is no way they are going to win the world cup playing the way they did today.

Well said. They lacked that Plan 'B' , I just think at times they needed to be more direct, cross the ball more often, and let Torres win them in the air. He's really good in the air, but it just wasn't their day.I've learnt it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts

del bosque did all he could he added width by bringing Navas and Pedro and torres to head in crosses from both side..!(he didn't live up to his billing) It was just one of those typical games for the spainards in WC..! If it wasn't for shitt luck they wouldn't have any in wc ..!Originally posted by Ridi-Q-Lus View PostThis spanish team has the same weakness as Barca; They play fantastic passing football and 95% of the time that is enough for a win (their 45 win out of 48 game record before this game is a record matched by no other current team), but they have no plan B if the other team play a Mourinho style of play (closed, organized, counterattacking football).

at wc self-confidence & strong resolve is half the ticket to advancement and the other half is the obvious ( talent, tactics, etc)
that's why you see an at best, average-talented German squad ruthlessly dominate a weaker opponent and rarely fail to live up to their "favorite" billing.

^yea man, marcus was rock solid and simply the MVP at the Euros..! that dude was THE key figure in their championship run..!! i suppose he got old and lost form fast afterwards ..!?? cause his club team was even looking to get neku to replace him or to help him out..!!
busquets needs to be benched regardless and instead they need to bring in cesc fab. or they need to drop busquets pull back alonzo and let xavi to get forward more and add a winger...!!?
they must take more shots from outside and look for spills as this ball is *****hh for the all the keepers to get a grasp on..!! especially if the weather is wet..!!

Hmm.. Paraguay just defend deep and make it difficult. I know Portugal tried to do that, and Spain eventually got a way through it.. however, it was just recently that Spain were frustrated by a stubborn Switzerland and got beaten.Originally posted by shayan20 View PostVAMOS ESPANA!!!!
I can see us already in semis against Argentina, Paraguay is no opponent!I've learnt it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts

good thing they got the wake up call early in the groups.Originally posted by HuSsAiN View PostHmm.. Paraguay just defend deep and make it difficult. Portugal defended for their lives but still quality of Spain's passing beat them.
Paraguay wont pose any threat, pretty mediocre side that should have lost to Japan!
GRACIAS PEP
