To add to my earlier comment, Arsenal was indeed the better team; with their meticulous passes and their fast-paced counterattacks.

They took out Riquelme and played an extremely high tempo match.

Villareal defended well, but still conceded and failed to score an away goal.
In the next leg, they will probably have to risk going forward more, which I feel will suit Arsenal as we will break against them very well.
