aziz - he is a sunni not wahabbi. Sunni's believe omar was a khlaifa and take his name as a sign of respect to him.

I know few sunnis who are not Wahhabi and their name is Omar. There is also the famous "Omar Mokhtar" who fought against French (I think it was in Algeria), and I don't think he had anything to do with Wahhabis. We also have Omar Khayyam, I don't think his parents were Wahhabi

Troussier has enough of a resume to be able to get a job without having to change his religion.

I don't think it makes a difference whether or not he had a french name or arabic to begin with. Most converts do not change their names, and if he doesn't know what he is doing it is even worse, because of the influence other people can have on him.
