this game further proves the fact that chelsea are a f**king dirty team with a bunch of dirty rude players.
Im so happy they lost in penalties to Man United last year and now this happened to them!
Anelka, Drogba all cheaters trying to get penalty by diving.
Then we have Drogba using the f work in front of live camera with millions of people watching.
so glad they were knocked out.
cheslea's tactics are: edfend,defend,defend,defend, Long ball to Drogba, dive, defend, defend, defend, repeat for 90 minutes. Boring football at its best.

I'm neither a Barca fan, nor a Chelsea fan. Here's how I looked at the match:
* Against this Barca team, no one can go all out, otherwise you'd get exposed and your ass will be kicked by 3-4 goals. So Hiddink's strategy was very good against this Barca.
* Even when not considering the possible pk's, still Chelsea had better chances and deserved to win.
* Silva's foul on Malouda: A pk would be harsh, but many referees would have given it. I'd say 50-50 call.
* Pique's hand ball was definitely a pk.
* Abidal shouldn't have been red carded imo. Still other refs would have sent him off too. I wouldn't reall say 50-50, more like 30-70 (30% sending off, 70% not).
* Etoo's incident: Again doubtful. Not as clear as Pique's handball, but I understand if some people say it was hands nevertheless. I'd say 50-50 call again.
All in all, considering all above points, I believe Chelsea got robbed, but they also have themselves to blame. Although I was cheering for Barca (only because I didn't want to have an English final), still I believe Chelsea deserved it more.

i was rootin for barca for this game (dont wanna see a all english final), but they honestly didnt deserve to win. it reminded me of iran games SO much. it shows that the ref is the most important person on the pitch. the first foul on malouda was clearly in the box, and the pique handball definitely shoulda been called

also, dani alves shoulda been given a red for being so damn dirty in the first half. if not ejected, he shoulda at least been subbed for playing so damn bad

Of the five incidents that Chelsea have complained about, only one was a penalty – the clear handball by Gerard Pique. Dani Alves’ obstruction on Florent Malouda may have been inside the area, but obstruction is only a penalty offence when it is really serious, and this was not. The same can be said for Eric Abidal’s slight pull of Didier Drogba’s shirt before half time, which preceded a one second delay before the Ivorian catapulted himself onto the floor like he’d caught the plague.

In the episode involving Drogba and Yaya Toure on 56 minutes, both players were wrestling each other, and even if Kolo’s younger brother did draw back the Chelsea hitman, it was well outside the area. When the two players entered the box, Toure won the ball with a fair tackle. Finally, regarding Michael Ballack’s last-gasp appeal against Samuel Eto’o, the Cameroonian may have had his arm higher than usual, but it was clearly ball-to-hand (the very top of his arm and back), while he also had his back turned. FIFA’s ‘Laws of the Game’ are crystal clear on this.

It is amusing that Chelsea have conveniently overlooked the fact that Abidal was wrongly red carded on 65 minutes for a ‘professional foul’ when Anelka had tripped over his own feet. This forced Barcelona to chase the last 25 minutes of the game with just 10 men. As a result the space opened up for Chelsea on the counter-attack, and it was only after this dismissal that the stonewall Pique penalty incident occurred. It is also peculiar how Chelsea have discarded the performance of referee Wolfgang Stark in the first leg at Camp Nou. During that game, Stark waved away an excellent Thierry Henry penalty shout, failed to send off Michael Ballack, and also harshly booked Carles Puyol, forcing Barcelona to start a left back at centre back, and a centre midfielder at left back last night.

Over the course of the two ties, the appalling refereeing decisions evened themselves out. Had Iniesta not scored that late goal, it would have been Barcelona doing the complaining, just like they did after the first leg when coach Pep Guardiola sniped that “referees need to take a look at themselves”, and Eto’o sarcastically shrugged that “you’d have to ask the referee about his controversial performance.”

What is fair is fair,this was the most disgracefull European refering I have ever seen and all the Chelsea supporters have a huge right to be angry.

A hand ball is everything from the shoulder bellow, the should have called it arm ball, but that's a whole other thing.
Anyways, just look carefully what happens. When the replay starts hit the pause button and look at it in slow motion. then you can see that Eto'o is looking at the ball even before Ballack has even hit it. He's looking at it and already knows the line of the ball. Then he starts putting his arms in the AIR and not near his head, also even before Ballack has hit the ball. Just after Ballack hits the ball his hands are already in the line of the ball and not near his head to protect his head. He remains keeping his arms that way till after the ball has hit his arms.
If that just was a reflex, first off all his whole arm would be around his head to protect it properly and second off all the action would have started atleast after Ballack had hit the ball.
And even if it was a reflex still it should have been a penalty as his arms weren't around his head but in the air. So the ball didn't hit his arm, but his arm hit the ball. That's when you give a penalty even if it was just a reflex.
And the ref was watching the whole thing.

first here, alright, we see ball coming from air, Ballack and barca guy (dont remember his name).. they are both looking at it.. fine, ballack though has good stance ready to shoot.. thats real good timing too



okay second pic, his arms are down.. looking at ball... ballack about to put some serious power into it, you can tell from his stance and just the way he's bent that its going to be a POWERFUL shot...



couple frames after, you can start to see ballack blowing it now.. notice the distance between the two players, this impact is going to hurt.. barca player getting hands up



K got another one, Ballack has going in it with all might, the hands of Barca player still not above shoulders, from what i see, and if i put myself in his position, it looks like its coming straight at him.. now its either straight in his face, or if he turns he can get it in the back... im sure the second option hurts less



Now looking at blue, his stance is really showing the power he put in the ball now.. ball is gaining height, barca player seems to have figured it out, bends his hands , gets them up FAST... this is all sudden, though he does bend a bit as if to hopefully get the ball on his ass to "soften" the impact



Now this one, barca player is at an angle, he's turning real fast, his hands curved at elbow even more just as anyone would be if they would react to a shot... look how far the ball has gone from last image, its certainly quick reaction... does look like its going towards his ass, but we all know thats not the case... looking at ballack, he's still into it



This is 1 frame before impact... look at line, still no touch, ballack flying away at this point...



If you look at the other pics, the shape of barca players arms and body is very much the same... now this pic is impact frame... if you look, shape hasnt changed, if it did hit him, we would see at least a jerk, but nothing other than normal movement progress... Now by the little arrows, the jersey has gone white, probably because of the bent surface from impact of ball... all showing it hit his back actually.. the line on top of ball is as close as it gets



Thats it, ball is now bouncing off, if you notice the feet from pic before and this one... you see how much movement has been made.. arms and body still seem same shape other than the slight progressing movement.. (a hit would jerk it) ball is moving away, and line is still seen... the ball is blurry and this screen shot actually isn't a good one but the ball isn't closer to arm than last pic... so no worries



k.. note the refs position btw.. arms shape still not changed much, ball is away now.. the feet and angle of the barca player still shaped as in defending himself, and there is movement... ref is enjoying

i wouldnt say its handball myself.. as ref had much better view, and things match up showing its not
it seems he hit just the part under the armpits and it bounced off... but at the angle it looks like it hit arm...

dude, he's protecting his face from getting F***.
plus ballack's shot was going into the stands anyway.
the only one of those penalty claims that was penalty is the pique handball. the rest are all bs.

I've never seen a guy protecting his face, by not protecting it. I mean his arms were nowhere near his face, how is that possible? If you wanna protect your face, you do something like the boxers block. Eto'o was running TOWARDS the ball, not away from it, sticking his hands up in the air even before Ballack had hit the ball. Even if he was protecting his face, it still would have been a penalty, because he ran TOWARDS the ball and then stopping the ball with his arms. If he's arms were in a natural position noway the ball would have hit him or them.
Think at it this way, a striker and a defender are running in the box towards the goal.. The defender slips and falls on top of the striker. The striker looses his control and also falls down and a 100% goal attempt is wasted.
If something like this happens it would be a 100% penalty, it doesn't matter if it was the intention of the defender to fall on top of the striker or not.
Same goes with hands, if your arms are not in a natural position and near your face to protect it, it doesn't matter if it was a reflex or your intention to block the ball with your arms, it'll be hands.
If this would happened outside off the box it surely would been called for.
