The commentator gets pretty excited.
For those of you who don't follow the sport, the Dominican Republic in baseball is like a Brazil or Italy in football. Many MLB stars are from the D.R. Nobody expected the minor Dutch team to knock off the heavyweight Dominicans. It's miraculous."More jazz than Hornacek"

Even the best European team would be no match for the Dominican. Fortunately, the Dutch have quite a few Caribbean-based players from the Netherlands Antilles (Curacao, Aruba, etc.). These islands have produced decent players as well as several MLBers. Baseball is quite popular there, and they have a strong Little League program.Originally posted by Demis-11 View Postincredible, i am happy for the success the dutch have had so far..and upsetting the dominican twice is nothing to sneeze at..holland easily have the best european team..
Today's results: Netherlands lose to Puerto Rico (5-0). Venezuela beat the U.S. (5-3). The Netherlands will face Venezuela in the next round, and Puerto Rico play the U.S. (This should be a good one.)."More jazz than Hornacek"

It's been popular in Venezuela. Quite a few MLB stars are Venezuelan. Look at their roster. Beating the U.S. was a good win, but not shocking like what the Dutch team did. Venezuela is one of the favorites to win it all.Originally posted by DRCha View PostBaseball might become popular in Holland and Venezuela.
BTW, congrats to Korea on beating Japan and making it to the next round. Decent start so far. Korea beat the States in the last WBC, too. Not a bad team."More jazz than Hornacek"
