I am with you I think the armbar really hurt Mechida because if he would of continued to ground and pound, he definately would of been awarded more points. The problem with Karate is that it is very defensive and defensive fighters by naturs, like Mechida, get put at a disadvantage. Judges want to see who is the aggressor and in a close fight that might be just enough for Rampage to steal the win.
I will say this much to Rampage though. #1 He didn't act like a jacka$$ this time and raised Mechida's hand. #2 He admitted, "Mechida whopped my a$$." This is a complete 180 from the Rampage I saw talking $hit to Rashad Evans(By the way go Michigan State
), and look what happened. I think he learned his lesson. I think everyone would love to see a rematch between Mechida and Rampage.
Do you think there would be a rematch between Rashad and Rampage? I think Rampage has problems against the wrestling/ju jitsu style fighters because he tries to go for that knockout punch. That is why I think a guy like Showgun would take Rampage to school. He is more suited for fighting guys like "ICEMAN" back in the day. The dudes who just stand and want to brawl are a perfect fit for Rampage. That is just my observation of him.
