Perhaps you better go look at how weak the defenders were 40 years ago, compared to todays standards. While you are there take a look at how Pele exhibits a lack of control over the ball when he runs, the ball is ten feet ahead of him at times. Notice he lacks the ability to cross well, creatively pass and his heading ability is below the par of todays players. I'd take Zidane on a free kick any day of the week over Pele as well.

I think Pele is overated. The list of players with better technique than him is quite extensive: Maradonna, Ronaldo, Zidane, Ronaldinho ect. This is clearly evident to anyone who watches a compilation. Pele abilities much like Beckhams have been blown way out of proportion through propaganda.

Have you ever played with the FIFA standard ball of WC 1974 for example? I did, and tell you there is a huge difference I notice if i touch the SOFTBALL of today!

i've never experienced the old ball personally, however anything one person can learn to do, another person can also learn. I don't see it as a major obstical. Again I haven't used it.
