I asked for your personal input, because you surely know more than me about bsaketball, I wanted to know if my opinion is rational and not based on my love for my compatriot.

my bad on my statement, i didnt know hamed hadnt even travelled with the team to toronto. i was assuming hamed had travelled to toronto and didnt play.Originally posted by Masoud_A View PostDude you didnt get my point, tell me why didnt you play them? Lets say, you have a 9th grader version of Haddadi and a 9th grader version of gasol, you are 20pts behind, Gasol has played 36mins but Haddadi not a second, you are 10mins into Q4 and Gasol is sweaty all over, you look at your bench and see Haddadi is watching the game with a passion and its obvious he wants to get in and show what he has got, there is no ****n way a tired gasol is going to
make anything happen in two mins while Bargnani is crushing you, what would you do? why not give this guy some playing time? he is part of the team too none is gonna criticize you because you are trying to give your bench warmers some playing time.
sadly im only an assistant and dont have much say in substitutions, but i agree with your statement. i would play the bench as much as possible, thats my theory and many others, but i guess our head coach believes its best to leave on 2 starters, even when they are losing by 20, just to make sure the game doesnt get too much out of hand since the bench players arent that strong (many are VERY raw and young in terms of basketball careers so it just wouldnt work out that way to have them all on at the same time, since it would be a total mess).

ive seen marc gasol and other grizzlies players make some really stupid mistakes and turnovers, i just dont understand how haddadi being there for a few min. will be any different but we'll see...they know he's a project and they got him for 3 years

just saw on nba.com that he got visa issues in the boxscore against the raptors
Anybody with more informations? couldnt find anything on this
edit: my fault!Game was in Canada due to the fact that the Raptors are not in the U.S and therefore Haddadi was not able to travel with em cause he only got U.S Visa

Behzad is right. Gasol is significantly ahead of Haddadi at this point. Hamed will get some opportunities later in the year, but next year will be his real make or break season after he spends some time working on his upper body in the gym and getting his conditioning up to par this summer.
As far as Gasol, few rookies ever come into the NBA and give the type of production he has as a starter this year. Just compare him to Greg Oden as an example.

ekbatan i agree with you fully but put yourselves as the coach. your coaching a re-building team that will struggle and is trying to build around a young group of guys (gay, OJ mayo, and like they say, marc gasol is a centrepeice of their franchise).Originally posted by EKBATAN View PostVISA ISSUES.....he didnt even travel to Toronto with the team
behzad, its ridiculous how many minutes gasol and other players get....i've seen hamed play and he is not that bad....he just needs chances....if he was a smaller player then i would say yea maybe he's not ready but he's a big size in the middle that'll turn the team away from goin straight to the hoop...on offense they dont really rely on him anyways so i dont understand why he cant get like 5min/game til he gets more comfortable.....right now he's still a little timid and they need to give him more chances
now you have 2 7 footers at centre. no doubt hamed is a big body but realistically, you have to compare him to who they currently have starting in marc gasol. also until 2 weeks ago they also had darko before injury, whos another young player with potential (personally i still see potential in him to an extent to be a solid player).
so you bring over a raw 7 footer in hamed after trading for marc gasol. marc is there centrepeice for the future, and he is certainly one of the top rookies in the league. they need to play him as well so he gains experience in the NBA. i kind of see both gasol and hamed in a similar situation but gasol getting the nod over hamed because of the NBA readiness. as a coach you dont want to put on a player that you dont trust, even if it means for a couple minutes. im only saying this because its the life of the NBA. if this was highschool ball it might be a different story!
anyways my final point, hamed needs to work hard in practice to earn minutes. i remember reading a while back about how he has poor work ethic. maybe that has an affect on his PT?
i dont know since we dont get much info on practices as fans.
all i can say is gasol is playing well, and only way for hamed to get PT is to earn it in practice by working hard.
