You know I was watching the game and I thought this Italy team is going to make it to the final. I made the same prediction with France in the WC when they were playing like balls and everybody was writing them off. I wouldn't be suprised if they do make it, but let's just see Spain today, they have a strong squad and it's very possible either Italy or Holland is going ot face them next round.

The goal was not offside. The FIFA rules tell, that when a player lies behind the line, WITHOUT permission from the referee he is still participating in the game. In this case, panucci was. Experts explained this on television. VIVA HOLLANDA

And I must admit, even though I'm an Italy fan and hate Holland, they explanied the first goal and how it was not off side because of some (strange) rule. So I guess according to the regulations the goal was correct.

Some do forget that Italy also had some good chances and could've scored and even drawn when it was 1-0, or even when it was 2-0. After the 3rd goal it was all over of course...I must admit that Holland played better overall and deserved the win.

no that ruling that they gave was just what they felt like saying to cover their ass. Based on the official rule that someone posted earlier, it says that if a player deliberately steps off to make a player offside is given a yellow AND the OFFSIDE IS NOT CALLED. That implies that if it is NOT deliberate, as was clearly the case here, that means that it is offside.

Im just mad cause this makes it look like italy will come in second, which means spain will have to play them next round (even though we beat them already in a friendly thanks to a spectacular goal by...guess who...david villa)
