Liga - Valdes to see out Barcelona contract

Goalkeeper Victor Valdes will play out the last season of his contract with Barcelona, according to president Sandro Rosel.

The Spain international, who has just arrived in Brazil with the world and European champions for the Confederations Cup, has rejected the chance to renew his deal with the La Liga champions beyond 2014.
The 31-year-old has said he would like to experience different leagues and cultures after almost a decade as Barca's number one choice, which raised the possibility of him leaving during the summer.
"Victor Valdes's representative has officially told (sports director Andoni) Zubizarreta that the player will complete his contract," Rosell told a news conference, as he reviewed the club's season.
"We are delighted he will be with us next year."
A long-term replacement will still be required for Valdes, with reserve keeper Jose Manuel Pinto aged 37, but Rosell was not specific when he spoke about possible reinforcements beyond Brazil forward Neymar.
"I believe we will sign one or two more players," he said. "That also depends on whether players leave."

fantastic half hour, Barca thrashed Bilbao but after that they took their foot off the accelerator.
Pedro and Xavi were fantastic, Spain will be favourites again for the Euros with these players.

There goes another championship title winning the final in full style and dominance.

Great teams like Barcelona may once in a while get entangled with bad luck, however a great team will remain a great team no matter what!

    Congrats all Barca fans!

its only our defence, which is why i am hoping fontas, muniesa, montoya, barta, planas.... all improve and become first team material, as much as i hate to say it we need to find a long-term replacement for puyol, although at this time he is irreplaceable, not only due to his amazing defending but also due to his amazing leadership, i doubt he can play 40-50 games a season at this level for more than 2 years...
i seriously hope he recovers from his injury as we need him badly, well be fine against most teams but when playing against europes elite we will need him to guide the team
Macherano, Busquets, Abidal, Pique, Puyol, Fontas,...they can all do wonderful job at centre back, I see no problem there. Our squad depth is much better than last season for sure.

great start to the season, we already won 2 trophies, beat madrid, and won our first home game 5-0 against villareal who are a strong side!
to top it of Fabregas, thiago and sanchez all scored a goal in our first league game proving we made good signings, specially fabregas who has been a vital player in all three games he played so far!
