"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Curious...how do you know CQ wants to coach TM? Did I miss an interview or statement from him? He would be better than any vatani coach but I doubt iff can afford him or that he will accept payment in rials.Originally posted by orbicular View PostPrecisely. The team is at a critical stage. You may not like Queiroz but, at this stage, he's the only one who has the know-how, the experience and familiarity with the team and the opponents to bring about a smoothe landing. Again, at this juncture and with this amount of chaos, not aggressively going after him and settling for an inexperienced Iranain coach could be tantamount to forfeiting the competition. If he's indeed available and willing to take the helm, and the fact that he possesses all the qualities mentioned, makes this all a great case of serendipity. IFF should capitalize on this opportunity, even if some members resent Queiroz personally.

Ramingeles said we need a coach who doesn't invite drama, and I'm saying it's revisionism to say CQ doesn't invite drama.Originally posted by DR Strangemoosh View PostI never said there wasn't drama. Some of which he invited.
But batting this away and creating a siege mentality - there are only a few coaches in the world who achieve this and we have had one of them.
My greatest pleasure in watching CQ TM was the unity on and off the pitch, which I hadn't seen in previous tournaments, years or decades. I don't think it is "revisionism" to state this.
In his previous time with TM he didn't "bat away" drama, he actively got involved (and that's not inherently a bad thing).
Even in his time with Egypt his behaviour on and off the pitch caused drama.

I agree that our best option is CQ. However, I don’t see Nekonam being a major downgrade form Skocic. Yes, Skocic has few years more coaching experience but they were mainly managing low tier Middle Eastern clubs and he had no international experience whatsoever (prior to TM) both as a player and manager. On the other hand, Neko played in La Liga for many years under experienced coaches, familiar with World Cup atmosphere by playing twice, our most capped player, worked with CQ as an assistant, and his results as a manager in IPL has been decent. Despite having more experience on the international stage, I think he as much of a gamble as Skocic.Originally posted by Karimi 8 View PostHe has less coaching credentials than Skocic , if we get anyone other than Carlos we are in more trouble than before this whole thing started

Just read Salahs comments about CQ. Not very flattering...Originally posted by The View PostRamingeles said we need a coach who doesn't invite drama, and I'm saying it's revisionism to say CQ doesn't invite drama.

What a weird take by Mo. He basically said CQ does the opposite of the fan's wishes (ie for player selection). Since when do coaches choose their player selection based on the fan's wants/needs??? Tres bizarre.Originally posted by O-ZoNe View PostJust read Salahs comments about CQ. Not very flattering...
Egyptian international football star Mohamed Salah criticized the head coach of the Egyptian national football team Carlos Queiroz and his assistant staff after Egypt's loss to Nigeria 0-1 in the match that brought the two teams together on Tuesday in the first round of the 2022 African Cup of Nations - currently being held in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6.

You are taking this out of context and time. Similar to Iran there is a big tribalism between 2 teams in Egypt (Al-Ahli and Zamalak). All of the criticism of CQ at the time was for not selecting Afsha (a popular Al-Ahli player) for AFCON.Originally posted by O-ZoNe View PostJust read Salahs comments about CQ. Not very flattering...

How many times did the players and media criticize him in Iran for crossing off Rahmati, Aghili, Jalal Hosseini, and Khalatbari. But guess what, in all those positions we ended up replacing them with much better players.
Fast forward 6 months later, Egypt is now on the merge of elimination from the next AFCON and begging for CQ to return. Also, Afsha was not invited by the new coach either. So what does Mo Salah have to say about that?
This Egypt team is clearly weak and did not have the qualities to make to the last AFCON finals let alone the penalty shootout in the WCQ playoffs. Prior to CQ taking over they were on the merge of being eliminated from the WCQ second round, and now after his departure they are about to get eliminated from the next AFCON.

The common defense of CQ track record is everything is out of context. Yes Egypt is begging for him back through a war of words I suppose. Context matters and so does truth. I posted to demonstrate even CQ isn't always unifying or drama free. Most others agree with this notion.Originally posted by ben.walken View PostYou are taking this out of context and time.
Former Egypt head coach Carlos Queiroz has reportedly lifted the lid on his time with the national team and how he was treated.
