He has always been one of my favourite. He's a clinical defender with very good foot skills with both feet. He's very modern player with European style.

I still find it amazing our only top legionnaire centre back was Rahman Rezaei, who was so respected in italy "The flying carpet" for his dominance, I never thought his international form was as good as his club form.

We had a lot of central defenders over the years who I thought were more gifted than him, I always wonder why no one can match his 7 seasons of consistent play in Italy.

Was watching usa extended highlight and Majid clearly left Pulisic unmarked. He wasn't good vs England either.
Disappointing WC from him after a bad AC few years back.
Leaving Kanani Shoja duo out who did decent job in qualifiers for a guy like Majid who after 2018 WC failed to take his game in TM to the next level plus PAG who isn't shadow of what he used to be was another CQ masterpiece brain fart!!

I was one of his biggest fans before. He did some good things for our football but we are not going anywhere any more with him.
His system became so predictable.
He was one of the main reasons behind poor result vs England and USA.

The biggest problem I have with the critics (to use a mild term) is there is no balance. I can admit what CQ has done wrong, but I am not going to take it overboard and say almost everything is his issue. There are too many things out of his control that people expect him to somehow fix. He is also criticized for things that are completely untrue (e.g. he has no plan B, which he disproved yet again, this WC)

Btw, your anger towards his England game tactics. I would bet anything he tried out that system during practice, and didn't reveal it for the preceding friendlies so as not to tip off England (or any other opponent). We all knew that a result against England was unlikely, so why not try a surprise tactic? In the end, was it a mistake? No. It was not, because regardless of the England result (whether we lost by 2 or 20), the path through to the knockout stage was still the same: get a draw or win against the USA.

Of course, if people here use/have some critical thinking ability, they would come to a similar conclusion. But no.. too many here are "eggggggggxpert" tacticians, and top-level haters.

England was a foregone conclusion. I don't hold it against CQ; it was an opportunity to try a surprise tactic. It didn't work, but he took a chance. Big deal. The England game didn't affect whether we were to go through. The USA game, though..

I don't blame CQ for the tactic he used in the first half. However.. his selection was wrong. Nevertheless, we couldn't hit the ocean from a beach in the second-half, and that's not CQs fault. It's on the players.

Regardless, I don't hate CQ or the players. I thank them and support them, because this is where we are at in world football. I don't think we can get anyone better, and we surely aren't going to get a manager who backs the players and the people in the manner of CQ. You may not care, but that matters so much to the players. (For example, look at the latest article on Azmoun)

The goal was definitely more ramin fault than majid...pulisic was literally his guy at the start of the play, turned him and ran diagonally into the box while the ball went to the other side of the pitch, ramin just fell asleep as usual and then didnt have recovery pace to get back goalside of him. Blaming majid for that goal is not accurate.

Ramin had great game vs wales, he brought energy and put us on front foot with his penetrations and crossing, and ofc scored a fantastic goal. But it was known for years he is suspect defensively. Moharrami had great games for TM vs Nunez (who was playing LW) and Mane in the 2 big friendlies, he dealt with sterling, pulisic, and leao quite effectively in CL just a few weeks ago. Not recalling him vs the US when we knew our backs would be against the wall was a big mistake by CQ. Same thing on left side, sticking with milad, hajsafi and taremi against dest+Weah (and Musah who shifted from CM to that wing and created huge overload there). In retrospect, speed of Jalali and Torabi would have given us a much better chance of dealing with what the US were doing from that side.

I was big supporter of CQ, and given options still think he is best candidate for the job, but his errors were really poor this WC. Any of us here could have told you that the teams issue was most primarily fitness related. To combat that, a rotational system for player selection across the 3 matches seemed to be the way to go. Yes england game turned out to be a spanking, but in that regard it seemed he was playing to an overall plan. The guys that came in vs Wales were rested and played with great energy. Unfortunately, he trusted them to repeat the trick vs the US and as Sardar said, "badana khali kardan". That to me seems to be an oversight from the fitness department/CQ being emotional trusting some of these guys too much. In back 4: Milad cannot play 2 solid games in a row, Ramin defensively and speed wise was totally wrong vs the US, and while the CBs were ok the pairing of Shoja + Kanani was fresh and hyper motivated.

In midfield Torabi clearly needed to start vs the US and Amiri or Saman for Nour (who was garbage vs the US, really the guy killed us with his lack of any ability on the ball but also lack of defensive awareness) were again quite reasonable introductions to keep everything fresh. Sardar if you asked him probably would have said start me on the bench but somehow he got the nod while being done physically, and CQ refusal to bring Zahedi or even Alipour meant there was no other strong physical/speedy option to help Taremi.

Just on subject of Majid I actually thought his performance vs US was one of the better ones. Bailed us out on multiple occasions with critical interceptions, tackles when US were in transition/had numerical advantage, and generally good on the ball, esp in second half. He also had a really solid game vs Wales.
