We all know that Taremi is good enough to be a strong addition to any Champions League club, and to start at most of them - his skills off-the-ball and between the lines are unique in football. He has many world class traits
But it's just the case for me of seeing decades of Iranian tax thanks to IR, and what happens when we have these hopes for our players. It happens time and time again. Taremi himself had to be patient at Rio Ave and Porto, and in both cases he took his chance, but I can't see him starting instantly in a country whose language he doesn't speak, and can see him being eased in with the competition he will have to face on day one
It's different having just Evanilson, Namaso and Martinez as main competitors.
There he will have European top 10 nation internationals such as Giroud, Rebic, Leao, Origi, Saelemaekers who all want to be the star, and also Messias, Colombo, Roback and Lazetic will be pushing to get starts. Just a few sub-par games and our highest achieving legionnaire could suddenly be glued to the bench for half a season until his next chances come, which isn't great at his age.
Unfortunately i don't think CL or European performances make much difference even if it is against their team, based on the history of our other players.
