I mean SC must just love Taremi. How could he ever come along with Taremi would leave the club.

Taremi scores less goals playing with Toni, and now after veron failed it seems its gonna be taremi + toni until evanilson is fully fit

I think he is the best player we had, above AK, daei and co.
I criticized him, he can also do better but he is top scorer of a top 6 league 4 seasons in a row, score against every body and no matter if is in group stage or quarter of final, scored at wc against a top team.

Only a transfer to a top team (with even 1/3 of what he is doing at porto) is enough to finish the debate

"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

I don't think he would get playing time at city. Arsenal, juventus are better options

He would actually fit very well in Pep’s system as the 9, but no way he is playing over Erling.

Taremi: "Let's see what happens with Benfica"

FC Porto's top scorer has already turned into heat for Saturday's game, at Vitória de Guimarães' home

Scorer of one of the four goals with which FC Porto beat Famalicão the day before yesterday, Taremi was quick to turn the heat on for next Saturday's game, at V. Guimarães' home. "We are going to prepare our plan for this game and we are going to Guimarães to win", he shot the striker, in exclusive declarations to the online means of the dragons.

The mission remains clear: to revalidate the title. For that, you have to "win every game". "That's what we try to do. Let's see what happens with Benfica and do our job. We hope to keep it that way", assured Mehdi, happier for the three points added against Famalicenses than for the goal scored. "We wanted to control from the start and put our plan into practice. We did a good job, scored two goals early and won again," he concluded.

Iranian forward Taremi steals the show

TEHRAN - Mehdi Taremi is the top star of Iranian football in European leagues, better to say the only star!

The Iranian national continued his scoring run in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, helping his side Porto to a 4-1 victory against Famalicao Sunday night.

Taremi scored the Dragon’s fourth goal with a spectacular header in the 48th minute. It was his tenth goal of the season in the 2022-2023 Primeira Liga and put him in the second place of the league’s top scorers table after Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos with 11 goals.

The Bushehr born striker jointly lead the table of players with the most assists in the Portuguese league.

To boost his eye-catching stats, the 30-year-old forward has helped Porto to lead the Group B of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League with five goals and two assists. Porto will face Inter Milan on Feb. 22 in the UCL Round of 16.

The Porto forward scored two goals against England in Group B of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Last week, Taremi was selected as the only Iranian player in the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Men’s AFC Team 2022.

The Iran international has been so prolific with the Dragons since the summer of 2020 that Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand preferred the Red Devils sign FC Porto star Mehdi Taremi rather than Besiktas’ Wout Weghorst.

The English signed finally signed the Dutch striker. However, speaking on Vibe with Five on Youtube, Ferdinand, who spent 12 years at United, revealed that he would have Taremi at the club over Weghorst. When asked about the Holland international’s potential arrival, the ex-defender said: “I’d have gone and got Taremi in from Porto.”

At the beginning of the year 2023, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) introduced the top scorers of 2022, and Taremi was ranked 4th on the list. The top players were Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain & France), Erling Haaland (Dortmund/Man City & Norway), and Robert Lewandowski (Bayern/Barcelona & Poland).

It was the icing on the cake for the Iranian superstar, a man who according to a reporter on the Portuguese Sports TV channel “does not know how to play badly”.

As the greatest legionnaire, he is up there but how can one compare a defender or midfield to a striker?

In my book, Who you play against is maybe more important than who you play for, and for how long. In that sense, Nekounam would probably be tops, having faced many of the very best regularly. Mahdavikia and Rahman Rezaie also played against amazing players regularly for years. Maybe no one has Taremi s champion league experience but Taremi doesn't face Barca RM AM Valencia etc every week either.

If he keeps it up for another two or three years and keeps shining at CL, then maybe the very best ever!

                              This is a great point.
For me when I say greatest player, I speak solely for the product on the field, consistency, and level of opposition.

I think Nekounam is a great player and his longevity and consistency for his club and TM (especially when we were pretty miserable in every position except for him, Ando, and Seyed Jalal...), but he never had the high level play in the Champions League. He had one excellent UEFA Cup (now Europa League) run.

I won't compare Nekounam and Taremi any further as they are in different positions on teh field, so I will compare to Daei.

So in terms of continental club football

Taremi - 3 Champions League tournaments - 9 goals, went as far as
1 Europa League tournament - no goals

Daei - 2 Champions League tournaments (one for Bayern, one for Hertha) - 4 goals
1 UEFA league tournament - 2 goals (I think one was in the qualifiers)

In terms of European domestic football

Taremi - 60+ goals at club level in Portuguese league
Daei - 19 goals at club level in Bundesliga.

                              International football

Daei obviously has more goals, but without Taremi's goals (game winners versus Uzbekistan, China, Qatar in 2018, and versus Iraq, UAE x2) we would have missed out on World Cup 2022 and World Cup 2026.
Daei was vital in only one qualification campaign - WC 1998.

                              World Cup

Daei has one super assist (Mahdavikia goal versus US), and 5 games.
Taremi has one assist and 2 goals.

                              Asian Cup
This is where Daei is better.
He was top scorer in 1996. Has 2 x 3rd place finishes.

Taremi was excellent in Asia Cup 2019 but we missed him in the semis due to yellow card accumulation.

I would say Taremi has surpassed Daei simply because he has been better as an individual in Europe.
