He got laid out from the GK after his goal. And his assist was brilliant, stole the ball (with his long gazelle-like strides), and passed it to Eva for an empty netter (Eva owes Mehdi half of his career earnings).

But, he did get clearly fouled at least twice and the ref didn't call it (which was followed by loud jeers from the Dragao). His reputation is definitely working against him now.

He was phenomenal! Cant believe some people here dont rate SC as a coach. The guys man management skills are excellent, he keeps finding new ways to ground and motivate Taremi, and the fact Porto got pillaged again for 4 starters and basically brought no serious replacements and yet are so competitive is a testament to his work. They make stars, they don't buy them.

And here post match an 80 year old fan got his wish of meeting the head coach. Lovely moment, also featuring iranian flag in background

getting tired of this, every goal just trying to wipe the guy out the second time in a month they don't even attempt to go for the ball.

At this point, I just want him to be healthy for the world cup which isn't a guarentee.

It's great that the club stands by its players no matter what the made-up perception is. Even if Mehdi exaggerated his fall when playing vs Atletico and even if the second yellow was justified in that situation, it should never mean that he does that all the time. I stand by him and I think he has shown that he consistently learns from his mistakes and uses them as opportunities for growth. That's why he has become a star player in Europe.
