Skill wise right now Son and Taremi and Azmoun has taken asian football to a whole different level. Park Ji Sung won more, but he is nowhere near these guys. He was a squad player that barely had a pivotal role in manchester success. Yes he played some crucial games etcetera. But he is nowhere near Son, Azmoun and Taremi.
This is getting apparent. Taremi is lifting this whole team on his shoulders. He is a humble guy and all, and old school irani. But he doesnt just score, he is masterclass at every aspect of the game.Comment

also couple things worth noting:
Todays result was big from Porto and Taremi personal perspective against an old adversary that has bothered them in CL in recent years.
Also, in the context of other portuguese results underlines continuously improving strength of the league, in contrast to what some people were saying after the first game or two of this CL campaign.
Porto and Benfica both advanced, Sporting only failed to advance on final night and went through to EL, still a solid achievement.
Considering Porto are currently 3rd in league and Sporting are 6th, that shows league itself is quite competitive as well.
Portuguese clubs have mastered some realities of modern football, they play quite a physical, high intensity style, are really efficient in transition moments, and off the field recognize the time to sell talents, even if to some fans and onlookers they may do so "too early". The decisions are typically vindicated. Benfica got so much money for felix and others and got to build a totally new squad from it that finally when paired with good coach is showing itself well. Sporting did similar with sales in recent times, got almost 40 million from selling their young LB to PSG alone. Porto are turning over 4 key players a year and not making any big investments to replace them, yet somehow the performances are not dropping.
Conceicao lost Vitinha, Vieira, Diaz, Mbemba in last 6 months. All are starters/contributing players to top sides in top 5 leagues now. Their main signing in the summer David Carmo has not been involved much due ton injury, nor has the second biggest signing Veron from Brazil. Instead Cardoso, a signing from Santa Clara (mohebbi's team) who was mainly on bench last season has developed into Mbemba's replacement, Estuquaio from Pacos Ferreira took over for Vitinha, Galeno ended up replacing Diaz after SC working on his development since January, and they found internal solutions for other positions in their team. Pepe at right back was brilliant tonight, looks totally different than the player he was at the start of last season. Zaidu at left back became a really solid player this season too.
OFC, the continued presence of taremi has a lot to do with making this transition possible, thats why I think Porto were so desperate to hold on to him. Having said that I think it is fairly likely he moves in January or Sumer at the latest.Comment
