I dunno man, this isn't a topic i particularly care for arguing about. Just that these states consider themselves separate countries and are treated as such within the greater umbrella UK nation.

I don't really care much about this, I don't think it will change either because the national pride for Rugby, Football and other sports is so big in each of the nations.

Hats off to Ukraine. They had to play away in front of two sets of partisan fans and they nearly pulled it off. Wales was hanging in there by the skin of their teeth!

I agree not that Wales are a small token and they too will fancy their chances against us but with Ukraine, world attentions would have been on fairy tale them. It would have added more political tension and from a footballing term I rate them higher than wales.

I feel bad for Ukraine they definitely looked to be the better side in both matches they played but I think fitness and lack of playing was the difference for them today.

On a brighter note it’s finally a good piece of news for TM to have wales rather than Ukraine IMO for a lot of obvious reasons but honestly even from a purely footballing standpoint, I think Ukraine would have been trickier too.

Doesn’t mean wales will be easy though I think they’ll be very motivated……they are a super physical side and super organized. Skochee and co have their work cut out for them

indeed ... saw much of this game and regardless of an unlucky narrow defeat, Ukraine were the far superior side all around the pitch ..... !
we got lucky they didnt pull through cause not only they are a good football team they probably woulda gotten all the fan sympathies and ref calls against us at WC too..!!
only thing that coulda made it even better woulda been is the shitass scotish side woulda lucked theyre way to wc instead..!!
we certainly must beat the welsh to get outa group .... and they are very much beatable... lacking top quality all over the pitch ... that including their overrated captain g. bales...!!

And Iran has a good chance against the U.S, too. A tie against England will definitely provide the motivation to overcome the other two opponents, provided the federation does its job and sets up a few meaningful friendlies soon. We're behind the rest of the world in that department and need to catch up fast.

Such a shame we have the worst combination of federation and sports ministry, management setup and coaching setup.

This could be a historic world-cup for Iran. Unless there's a miracle, all the alarm-buzzers are going off (based on previous experiences) that we will have a huge disappointment. Damn

What a great game! Ukraine was a bit better, but Wales would also be challenging. Iran federation better set up some friendlies fast, especially since wales just finished an intense game which was better than any friendly imaginable. They're in great shape.

We have the players to confront every single team in the group and do quite well. But we need the tools. That's not up to the players. It's the federation's job.
