Everyone will be safe. The reasons that Hamid Estili is in the spotlight is because of a lot of stupid shit he said in the past supporting regime elements. He shouldn't have said it. It was to kiss ass and get ahead (he doesn't have same profile as likes of Mahdavikia, Daei, Karimi etc.) but a lot of Iranian athletes don't say nothing about supporting IR like Hamid did. So he should have stayed quiet. In real life, he's not like that at all.

Daei and Karimi don't have such a past and are beloved in Iran. They didn't want to go for various reasons - Daei is out of Iranian football and is just doing amazing things in Iran helping people. Karimi also had a recent spat with an IR reporter who basically shredded to pieces on social media - not saying this is related, just for contrast purposes.

In general, in all sports in and out of Iran (but especially in countries without a free and just government) no one should really put much weight on the statements of any athlete or celebrity.

Even our favorite athletes may have said something we didn't like - it does not take away from their ability and love for their country. We shouldn't expect them to be super politically aware... at best they're exposed to slogans, even when saying good stuff. Once in a while you get much smarter athletes, but it's rare.

Even in the 70s we had a guy like Ghelichkhani who had reprehensible anti-government views (was strongly against shah), but he was a great footballer and should not have been kept out of the 78 squad.
Same goes for any players now.

Agreed. Add Tajon Buchanan who is our version of Gholizadeh. Good dribbler but not so great finisher. Will be a good test. I'm sure Shoja will nullify Davies...look for 10-12 nutmeg by Shoja as well [emoji6]

2. Bragging about making a profit from the game, now giving a lot of fuel to the anti game people.

he shouldnt broken his own rule, not to speak about stuff before its all done + keept the details from the contract to himself.
think new iff felt that they needed to boost themselves with talking to much in a situation the best thing would be to not do that.

also a lessen learned for the future. have a clausule in contracts that secure that we are able to stay and use the arena/other arena for another date aswell if we plan to play more than 1 game - if possible..

Cancel culture isn't abouty being "efficient" or having any goal, it's about "shaming" the other. Funny enough, all these conservative, blaming the left for cancelling them (on topics like racism, gender etc ...) are playing the same game against Iran.

But honestly guys, after what they did to Russia and especially Bielorussia (who didn't do anything), i am not surprised by what they are ready to do in order to appease their sick mind.

Mixing politics and sports? These guys raised the bar to the unthinkable. Russia and Bielorussia ban opened the Pandora box and God knows where and when it will stop.

Again, the issue here are iranians pushing for their own country to be cancelled. They are the ones to blame, before everyone else.

for canada game there is no guarantee how many players will get visa or even stuff, iff said they are sending 40-50 people, but i can promise not all the stuff will get visa, we have to wait and see there is alot of pressure in iran and in canada, expecially canada goverment does not want iran to play there.also canada footbal association have no say on visa at all. canada embasyy might not give all of them visa expecially estili, even though estili had been to canada before.we have to wait and see how many of them get visa and also iran wont be able to stay long , they might have to leave right after the game.
