Iran vs Uruguay friendly match seems to be back!

After several failed attempts to arrange friendly matches in the much-expanded FIFA day in June, Iran’s national football team could not make the best use of the opportunity and could only manage one game against Algeria while setting up a few-week camp in Qatar. Team Melli finally played a game against the Algerian national team. Iran was supposed to play against Canada and also Ecuador, but these matches were canceled due to political pressure in Canada against Team Melli traveling to the North American country.

Iran’s Team Melli was offered to play against Uruguay in this country, but due to the long-distance, Iran’s head coach Dragan Skocic opposed that arrangement as it would have been a logistical nightmare for the squad. Team Melli lost to Algeria 2-1 in a friendly match in Doha, and that triggered the Iranian football mafia into action. It was like the ideal result for them to call for the head of the current head coach and calls for the former one to return at the helm of Team Melli.

Commenting on such scenario, Bijan ZolfagharNasab the former player and coach of the Iranian national football team who is currently an Advisor to the Minister of Youth and Sports, in reference to Dragan Skocic status, said: “He is the best option now and the atmosphere should not be made more polluted than what is now.”

Today there was an scheduled brainstorming meeting between official of league org and clubs to sort out league 22 schedule and cooperation with TM .
Only 3 coach showed up Rabiei, Parkas,and Tatar . Few clubs just represented by assistants and few totally ignored ( Persepolis, Sepahan)this meeting.

TM coach Skocic has officially requested :

*- longer league break before Qatar WC
*- TM training camp to start a week earlier than FIFA day on September 11-27 ( FIFA day 19-27)


11-18 is not in FIFA day 2022 and it is for available domestic players in addition to UAE and Qatar players

I'd add that because of African Cup of Nations, it looks like African teams will be unavailable for friendlies during the September window, as well. Some African World Cup teams have complained about this and have asked to reschedule these Afcon games, but so far, all indications are that they will go ahead.

A few European teams are only playing 1 Nations League match in September and therefore are available for 1 friendly match during that window: Iceland, Israel, Malta, and San Marino.
Also, Morocco is available for September friendlies after their matches against Zimbabwe were cancelled when Zimbabwe was suspended.

Some european teams are available bro. Like Iceland (23/09/22) , Malta , San Marino and russia ( A Big NO).

Iceland would be great friendly since they are doing well in UNL.

Absolutely no excuse to not have a friendly using the domestic TM players. I get it that our key players won't make it, but still our domestic players need every second of game time.

Idea of a friendly with available players is sound and reasonable but it has to be called by SKO.
IFF will not act on this without a request by coach.

8 day extension for camp is great news, CQ will need as much time as we can afford him now.

Alternatively, if for whatever reason CQ is not yet installed, it gives Sarlak more opportunity to cement his starting place to ensure we get the Ls we need to get Sgoh sacked.
