It's only worth it if we pull the result over them, unfortunately they have an advantage in every category besides bekesh ziresh and experience

On the commercial side of things, the US football media wants to make it more popular than hockey/baseball. They are hyping the England/USA game as the turning point since its on Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving, where most of the US viewing public is off. He won't bash MLS because the push is for MLS to have a fan culture and to become a more legit league and not be bashed for "being worse" than European leagues. There is so much politics to this all that his answers will be shallow.

None of these pressures exist in Iran and are focused more on personal power which is why we get the egoes that we do.

Well said. So much money is at stake that the manager and public facing members have to behave like CEOs publicly. It’s all about increasing value (not necessarily quality).

I wouldn't just chalk it up to corporate optics. Berhalter has done good things with the US and is a professional. His comments about facing Iran are a testament to that. A lot of American coaches could have said something very different

Colin Cowherd is an idiot who doesn’t know anything about football. Neither does his audience. Berhalter’s interview on Futbol Americas (espn+) from a few days ago was much better.

Explained stuff like John Brooks’ absence from the squad is because of the way Wolfsburg played. He wants to see a player every week in a system similar to his so he can evaluate better. Skocic selects two QSL CBs because they are friends. Our football is in the stone age.

Doesn‘t matter who they select, in the end we will bang USA hard

                    Um... Yeah, that's not happening.

                    Maybe on FIFA though.

Of course, he doesn't know but exposing ESPN viewers more to football is the plan to get increased viewership prior to the England/USA blockbuster. They put all the US games on the main FOX channel including the Iran-USA game for exposure. Most US fans that know anything about the sport are more humble than the more outward media.

perfect, those young kids will lose focus on the fancy stuff, like a boxer in a to fancy gym vs a boxer in oldschool cellar gym and then go box in slaughterhouse on hanged up meat.

Major error by Berhalter to leave out Palmer-brown, tim ream, haji wright, and Brandon vazquez. Those are 4 guys that could even be starters…..don’t think any are injured either so all seems to be preference based decisions.
