No. With this tie, if we win against Wales and England beats the US, after two matches, the table will look like this:

2. Iran: 3 pts
3. US and Wales: 1 pt

So, unless Wales beats England in their last match, Iran could go through with a tie against the US. So, this tie was beyond important for Iran as it opens up paths to go through with just one win and one tie.

we have -4 goal differential —4 pts won’t get us anywhere bc us or wales might also get 4 and a better goal diff. Win out is the way Iran controls their own destiny .
