Poland topped their group for 2018 - it didn't mean anything then and it didn't mean anything at their disappointing world cup.
You can definitely achieve a bigger glory than topping your group in qualifying.

This whole thread went over your head. The whole point of the thread is to celebrate the maximum glory that was possible in the qualifiers which is to win your group and be top of Asia in the rankings.

If you mean winning all ten games then yes, you can achieve that as well but that's something that no team has ever done in Asia.

However, no team gained 25 points out of 30 like Iran did.

Also, in terms of titles, which is what I referred to, you cannot possibly achieve more in the AFC WCQ than topping your group and finishing as the number one team of Asia which Iran did.

If you go to wikipedia and look at the qualified teams for the World Cup, it states "Iran, Qualified as: AFC Third Round Group A winners". This is a title that Iran holds, and they will be referred to as Group A winners during the World Cup Draws which increases Iran's reputation.


It's embarassing to belittle others and correct them when you are lacking intelligence in your own statements.

Be happy that Iran is qualified with all the glory. Deal with the team issues tomorrow.

Great achievement congrats to all TM fans and thank you to player coaches and staff for making TM fans happy with this milestone

There is surely a good deal of work to be done and we need those issues addressed ASAP, there is not enough time between now and the WC. We need as many friendlies and camps as possible and we need TM staff to take a close look at the game film from the last 10 WCQ’s and identify those holes and focus on addressing them. The second we get drawn with another team this week, that is exactly what they will do on us and have a nice scouting report prepared.

Let’s see if Skocic and his staff wake up and fix the very clear issues that needs to be fixed. I hope he does and shuts me and the rest of his critics up….I fully welcome that.

This is not about our gap from other nations and our own issues.
Even if Iran had the best team in the world, you cannot go above the title of first in Asia and topping group A, in regards to the qualifiers. On top of that, we have broken records in combination to this as I've mentioned above.
I made it clear that this is about celebration and that I will address the issues we have in a detailed post. Let's be positive today.

Achievement would be to atleast win one time the Asian cup in the past 40+ years. Or go to the second round World cup finals.
These fan-made ''WC group qualifying winners'' has no purpose really. We are eliminated from every tournament that is being played to win the cup.
These stats give us nothing but fake confidence which will be shattered brutally when we play against proper opponents in the World cup. It is always the same, we never learn.

exactly, in the end it was too much for even him to handle. But bottom line is, coach of TM cannot simply show up for international week and expect long term success.

skocic does not have credentials to such extracurricular activities.

Think about it, if CQ didnt complain as much as he did TM would still have no practice pitch right now, let alone all the most modern gym, recovery, hydrotherapy equipment that exists at PEC. It is being used by 3 youth national teams and a women's side as well. Talk about lasting impact.

Yes we can agree that the TM coach needs to be vocal and put pressure on IFF. Skocic is clearly too timid or passive at that.

That being said. CQ is not going to come back (IFF and other entities wouldn't allow it anyway, just like how Daei won't be TM coach again), and we are most likely not going to get another coach for the WC.
