Honestly it's great that atleast we have been a part of the past 3 tournaments. I think it's overlooked how much of an accomplishment that is.

Anyone remember how terrible it felt not to have qualified in 2010 and Iran being left out of all the coverage?

Making it 3 consecutive times (to the best tournaments in recent history) is a true feat we should be very proud of, especially considering the state of the country and all the adversity we've faced

In essence, it's much better to be there than to be watching from home. Easy to lose sight of that when you take for granted qualifying, even when many other heavyweights miss out, like Italy and Colombia

Exactly, we overrated too much our football. Should enjoy the some and few good things we had recently. It could have been worse

100% - particularly because we were actually almost out this time around in the first qualifying stage.

Imagine UAE being there instead of us? That would have been excoriating. Atleast we even added a nice 2-0 win, our best victory and performance in any World Cup as well.

The 6/2 was the exact reflection of the gap of level between a top team and Iran. And we didn't play the traditional clown like Noorafkan and sarlak to make the gap wider

I was hoping we would get trashed earlier in friendly or club world club so we really wake up about all the work needed for our football.
2014 and 2018 make us overrate us too much as we could hide these gap against top teams whose qualities match us very well

Infantino thanks Qatar by saying “many thanks to Qatar for being fantastic incredible host..,”

FIFA knew how ridiculous he Sounds when he spews these comments and so they have closed the comments for this particular post on their Instagram:

I feel like there's two hands to the whole Qatar situation:

On one hand, yes there were egregious human rights violations and exploitation against poor South Asian workers when making the stadiums that should be addressed and called out

On the other hand, racist Western journalists are using it as an opportunity to criticize Middle Easterners (like they are revealing by saying Messi wearing the bishti is a scandal), while they would never make any of the same human rights abuse charges against Western countries hosting World Cups. There's a lack of consistency and selected outrage which exposes them for the frauds they are.

LGTB+ have a huge influence in the media and that's contributed for so much hate against Muslim countries. People who claim for freedom but don't respect other cultures is kind of nonsense. I think Western enjoyed the show to blame how much they could against arabic cultures and faith. As you said very well, arabic culture have a serious human rights violations there not just in World Cup time but generally when they built their empire. But media exaggerated attacking Qatar, is funny so many influencers and famous goes all the time to Dubai, Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Doha posting innumerable photos and having fun for a decade but when comes to World Cup it's the same people who wanna be the cool guy and making stories and critics to Qatar or Arab countries. It's like more you critique Qatar or this World Cup more likes and followers you receive

Decent WC, didn't have as much charm since it wasn't in the summer & the location was lame, but some good upsets, good underdog story (Morocco), boring Round of 16, and great final.

Qatar, a culturally conservative Muslim nation, announced it would not allow the sale of alcohol during the World Cup.

It was a great world cup and almost every match was a spectacle, the final was the best final i‘ve ever seen. The stadiums looked stunning and the environment was safe and fan friendly. Hoping for a World Cup every two years 🙏🏽
