solid game by him. Second half again pressed hard and had some good moments, one lovely diagonal to frimpong. Unlucky to hit the post but thankfully schick finished the follow up.
Alonso leaving him in for full game while yanking CHO and others early also shows his performance was noticed. Finished game with wirtz and schick, maybe this trio can start in diaby absence.Comment

He played well tonight but people who only know football from FIFA will say that he’s poor and then write about it on Twitter for the likes.
He got into some great positions, unlucky not to be on the score sheet and got a lovely assist. His link up play even without match minutes is still top notch, tired towards the end but that is understandable.Comment

totally gassed last 25min. lost basically all challenges last half an hour. Didnt keep right position in defence last 30min. However had a lot of good moments all in all although pen call was prob not correctComment

How? He may not be strictly "world class", but he is the next tier down. He consistently beats defenders on whichever side he is playing outside mid, and gets crosses in. Is he fit? No. And that's one of my biggest gripes with him. If here were fit, his touch would be sharp, he would blow-by defenders once gaining control on 50/50 balls, and I think he would score. Azmoun's raw ability is undeniable. But so is his rec-league fitness level.
Regardless, he did well given that he has not played many minutes, much less 90+ minutes, in so long.Comment

Azmoun is class. He had the least touches in 90 minutes but was intelligent & effective.

Not much more you can do to help your team win. A penalty won, an assist and created goal off of basically nothing, and hitting the post where your teammate scores on the rebound. This sorry team needs to get its defense together.Comment
