The only reason fifa-AFC allowed us to host was because of political reasons. They wanted to force IR to allow females in the stadium. Otherwise who in the right mind would allow a country that doesn't even have the simplest teachnology (goal line technology) to host the games.

Iraq didn't produce him, England did. He was born and trained there and he has an Iraqi mother (Pakistani father).

A lot of 18/19 year-olds play in top academies and you never hear about them. He may turn out to be nothing. But he has bad advisors for sure. Why go play for Iraq when you were born and raised in England? Does he not think he is good enough to at least try to make the English team? Clearly he was led by advisors to play for Iraq. He's too young to do the calculus himself at such a young age. They clearly don't have the best interest for him at heart. Committing to the 75th best team in the world at such a young age when you don't know how you will feel in 3 or so years is risky.

Tue real question is, would you or any other PFDC members have called this decision/move stupid had he been of Iranian descent? I think 99% of the forum members would have bashed the lad for having picked the foreign national team over Iran’s [emoji6]
