Carlos Queiroz is a very weird manager.

He made some very questionable decisions that cost us in terms of cohesiveness in our play. He played our striker Mostafa Mohamed on the right wing, while playing Salah as a lone CF. Mostafa Mohamed has never played on the wing in his entire career. He doesn’t even fit the profile of a wide player. He plays as a CF only for Galatasaray. Salah plays on the right for Liverpool so it’s baffling. Trezeguet is a LW who has never played in midfield in his life. Does this guy not watch the Premier League?? Both these players looked so lost tactically. It was so painful to watch. Playing two CDMs together in midfield that do the exact same thing ?? Lol how can you defend something like this?

Frankly Egypt was so lucky not to lose by more goals, Agree there was no cohesiveness in the squad, sending all the ball to Mo. Salah in the hope he can dribble past 3 defender is useless tactic. If it was not for the heroic of Elshenawy/محمد الشناوى, it could have been 2 or 3 goal difference. Defense was liturgic at best, no playmakers at all and speed was missing (except from Salah). There was no fighting spirit. This was not الفراعنة I have seen play in the past.

Remember CQ had 8 years with Iran. Egypt it's like around 1 if not less? If you want quick results he's not your guy. There needs to be patience. If you want long-term development he can be an asset

Egyptian fan will not tolerate this level of experimentation with players position in an official tournament. Playing many players out of position to use element of surprise back fired big time. Coach Q overanalyzed the situation. Arab cup was for experimentation and AFCON when you play your arch rivals.

I watched some of the match and it wasn't like Egypt was totally outclassed. Salah had a 1v1 he should've put away. That was an easy goal for him

only saw most of 2nd half ... egypt MF looked nonexistent and toothless as all shitts.. especially in the center of the pitch..! and some of their players looked a bit lost and confused about their assignments (both wingers and salah especially so )...!
to me nigeria looked to be stacked with superior individual talent in most positions on the pitch although they werent particularly playing a well drilled, organized team football either..!!

cq needs more time to drill what seemed to be whole team overall defensive and counter attacking tactics with you guys as well..? ... doubtful he'd be afforded more time if they dont get outa the groups at least..!?

nigeria is a superior team in every way. just look at the talent on their roster. CQ took a risk with the element of surprise in a game he wasn't expected to win anyway and it didn't work. 1-0 is a reasonable result and salah had an opportunity that he'd score 90% of the time. egypt will win the next 2

Nigeria is the same as always. Overhyped by English press and never really a good team.

Same can be said with all the African teams

Carlos wanted an upgrade and got one with Colombia but failed miserably there. Now he's gotta put in all the hard work to make out of Egypt a competitive World Cup team. Do you see? Instead of jumping up the career ladder you could argue Egypt is a slight step back compared to our all beloved TM. Their talent is not better than ours and he needs time to get to know his players and build a cohesive team.

For me it's 50:50 whether Egypt qualifies for Qatar. Depends on the draw. He doesn't care much about AFCON. Dude's mission is to qualify for the 5th World Cup in his career.

Upward move, lateral move or backward move aside, his biggest issue is the same tactic over and over. With the insane analytics and flow of information these days, any coaching staff can see through CQs tactics and prep correctly or adjust.

What a humongous load of knee-jerk rubbish. And fact check, CQ didn't seek out an upgrade to TM.

They’re not superior at all lol. They actually hadn’t beat us in a long time before this.

The thing is he left our #10 off the squad which drew a lot of criticism. Then he failed to play a creative player in the middle in favour of two CDMs (Fathi, Elneny). We had no control in the middle because of this. How is playing our CF on wing supposed to be anything but a negative tactical surprise. Imagine Chelsea playing Ziyech at CF while keeping Lukaku on the wing lol.

That’s how ridiculous his set up was. There are two wide slots available with five wingers in the squad (Trezeguet, Marmoush, Salah, Sobhi, Zizo). He started 3 of them and played 2 out of position. Only Marmoush played in his true position. I don’t know how anyone can judge the team when CQ is totally at fault for the way he set up the starting 11. I don’t think a single other manager in world football would have done what he did.

Zizo is awesome . Saw a few games with him playing and he always impresses.
Most if not all of Egypt calling for CQ to be fired yet?

didn't mean any offense. i look at it like japan and iran. regional rivals who know each other well. on any given day, iran can beat japan. but japan is a superior team because they have better players (better in the sense that they play in better clubs and have more experience in europe).
