There is something called immigration and most of these kids are proud to put the jersey on. Born or raised(or both) here.

Yes indeed! here is one last (probably not) input on dick.

The Iraqi football federation has released a statement claiming that they have parted ways with the Dick (Advoocat) since he lacked the energi to stand up strong and fight for the team. "We need one that can stand up for more than minutes during gamedays and the old dick couldnt do that anymore".. "we can not have one that has to sit down and rest after recieving a single blow, we need one that bounces back and stands strong and keeps fighting.."

As rumors goes, they are now looking for a younger local talent that can stand strong and lead them in the future..

In memory of Dick "The Dick" Advoocat. You will be missed!

Hopefully Iraq will stick with Dick at least for the Iran Game.

Are Canadian players born in Canada or are they just Qataring their team?
Either way, I am glad they are beating some of these teams who view their WC qualifications as a God given right.

Canada are very similar to us in that they're largely a 2-man team who have managed to drag the rest of their crap up to elevated heights. Both Davies and David are African immigrants who moved there at a very young age and rightly identify as Canadians.

They're mostly Canadian citizens (immigrants that have moved here). Generally, in Canada you don't see a lot of original Canadians unless you're in the suburbs so it's not just the national team but the country is young and very very immigrant driven. Meanwhile everyone respects and considers Canada as their home. Qatar on the other hand brings in players that are already active somewhere else and gives them citizenship for this specific purpose so very different.

Seems like Iraq wants to keep losing if they indeed keep the Dicky.
Sign against banning Iran from WorldCup!!!

Not comparable. Outside of the 1 superstar, and 2 A/B players, the rest are very ordinary MLS level players. The difference is they are much better coached now (a guy with only women's coaching experience previously) and just much more street-smart in terms of planning out their games. For example 8 years ago Canada would have played this game in Vancouver or somewhere warmer. Now they use any advantage they have.

Also CONCACAF is just plain bad. Worse than AFC in terms of parity.

Just saw the 2 pots for Africa…..I feel bad for CQ, only team Egypt has a shot against is Tunisia. All the other pot 1 teams are much better than Egypt who don’t have nearly as much quality players as they did 10-15 years ago
                              Team Meli Iran
                              Perspolis FC
                              Malavan Bandar Anzali

yes compared to other teams egypt have mostly domestic players. at least they have the best player in africa. since it is 2 legs it will come down to CQ tactics, so they definitely have a chance.
