Beautiful cutback by Shariatzadeh to give it to Sadeghi, who misses an empty sitter in front of the net (7-8 yards out). Should have been 2-0.

lovely build up play from the back, ends with nice chop and setup in the box by shariatzadeh, sadeghi misses open goal.

            Should be 2-0

It was about controlling MF . Iran did better,
              Sadeghi cannot handle Mirkhas.

              Amiri did well at LB.
Khodaei - Sadeghi at right not working

Few nice long distance shots by Yasin and Khodabandelou at the end test Iraqi GK who made solid stops.

Overall dominant half by Kia's boys. There were of course a few stupid possession losses but general build up play out of the back is structured and clear. Khodabandelou's influence grew as half wore on and once he found his stride combination of him and yasin meant Iraqis struggled to get hold of the ball at all. Fallah and Kor were solid, very comfortable playing out of the back and strong aerially. Our left back was excellent in possession and made some really penetrative runs forward with the ball.

Actually the front 3 was probably the weakest link. Shariatzadeh was ok but doesnt feel like he is a real CF, lacks big physical presence, although his hold up play improved later in half. Sadeghi's decision making is often questionable and not decisive enough in final action. Yousefi was better and took his goal well.

If Kia and Lammers continue building with these guys, but then manage to add Hosseinzadeh, Allahyar, Delfi trio up front for the really critical games (olympic qualification) this team has excellent chance to not only go to olympics but succeed there too. They have the best play pattern I have seen in an Iranian u23 side ever, the spine of the team is very strong and tactically aware (fallah, Khodabandelou, Yasin)

Javad the dutch based CF is on.

Fallah also replaced for another CB (looked like Ghorbani nassaji starter)

He is making a big difference with his physicality. The iraqis cant cope. Yousefi, Yasin, Sadeghi all coming close to scoring in this half.

Was just about to write something similar. He's not bad technically either.

Milad Kor looks like a very smart centre-back. Nothing seems to get past him and he always seems to make the right plays.

There is a clear drop-off in quality when the starters went out. Iraqis threatening.

The Iraqi ref seems to be blowing everything in Iraq's favour now.

                              Iran win 1-0.

Starters were pretty impressive, our bench players were not.

Good game for Iran so all players be tested.

Game was about first half second half was to give all players chance.
