This ref is a clown, tho. Very anti-Iran.

Iranian players losing their mind, they are getting useless yellows.

The ref has been bad but don't lose your mind. Keep your composure or a red is coming up.
"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

can someone explain why this is? we always suck at youth tournaments, but our normal team is really good compared to these scrubs

Uzbecks with some fantastic give-and-go and passing. Very impressive for a youth team.

Because their youth teams actually play regularly.
They don't just setup 2 garbage friendlies before a major tournament, expect the world and then fire the coach immediately when they don't do well.

              These things take time.

They seem like theyve already given up before kickoff so good luck getting a result or showing a respectable performance.

Replacing kia is another hilarious thought. Who do you think will take over this team? No iranian coaches are even interested in taking over TM last time I checked, if you prefer afshin peyrovani then by all means.

Major work and squad overhaul will be required to be competitive in olympic qualification.

But Nokhodi jaan, it's rinse and repeat with IR Iranian football. There will be no progress on that front by repeating the same structural issues that we have - esp. with our youth.

exactly, the operative word here is team. There is a big difference between a TEAM and 11 individuals thrown together at the last minute.

Better get our senior team some of that Clinton Adrenochrome if we want any chance of making the next WC.

These kids are not that good.

Of course - what I'm saying is we should avoid rushing like we always do, let Mahdavikia stay and give him the support he needs in terms of support, training and friendlies.

At the very least he should be given a chance to the Asian Games - we should see some improvement in our team there.

Mahdavikia is coming from the Germany system. We need to give him time.

Yeah of course, Mahdavikia leaving is not a question: firstly, no one else will take the job, much less someone better, secondly, I know this is a tune-up for the Olympics, so the bigger picture must be viewed. I just wished we would have done better. I thought we were better than Qatar and before the red card, better than Turkmenistan. It was always going to be a tall task to beat Uzbekis playing in front of a home crowd.

But to come out with 1 point from the 3 games is very disappointing. If Yasin really has Euro clubs interested, he needs to make the move abroad - right away.

No.18 is pure trash. How did he ever get selected for a national team?

Iranian football doesn't work that way.
Very few players go through the entire youth systema and then make it to the senior team. And when they do they usually perform poorly at the youth level - just look at these olypmic teams, the players they have, and how they failed!
92 - azizi, golmohammadi, shahroodi, peyrovani, manafi...Daei got cut!
96 - Nakisa, Minavand, Mahdavikia, Bagheri, Yazdani, Bezik
2000 - Mahdavikia (again), Yazdani (again), Nekounam, Nikbakht, Kavianpour, Karimi, Ansarian, Samereh, Khatbi...)
2004 - Rahmati, Talebloo, Saeghi, Kameli Mofrad, Badavi, Kaabi, Mobali, Kazemian, Navidkia, Zareh, Seye dJalal, Akbarpour, Nosrati...)
2008 - Kaabi (again), Haghighi, Oladi, Mahini, Pooladi, Meydavoudi - this was probably the worst Olympic team
2012 - Kamyabinia, Hajisafi, Khanzadeh, Sadeghi, Beyranvand, Jahanbakhsh, Mosalman, Ansarifard, Sadeghian - super good team that got eliminated due to fielding an ineligible player.

Hate to quote myself, but the failure that 2000 team went through is insane. JUST LOOK AT THE PLAYERS. They were better than TM itself in most positions (when the likes of Navazi and Hamedani and Helali were getting invited to TM senior).
