June 1, Iran will face Qatar and result will decide advancing team.

Iranian offensive line players won't have arial game advantage against two very tall, strong and experienced CB.
Arya is the only one that could be effective in such game but unfortunately, he had red card from previous match.

We have yet to see new U23 list but for Qualification Dana and Khaghani were alternative for Arya.
Without Arya Coach need a different attaching game.

Palang & Karami both fullback of Qatar born in Iran and speak Farsi.

Such a shame we have Iranians representing other countries. But don't blame them - probably just had better opportunity in Qatar for their families.
"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

They grow up there. No shame.

St. Mark jan, I am not worried about Qatar's individual players.
For me what makes them good at this level is all the opportunity and chances they've had to practice as a team against decent opponents.

              .

              Dear
You are correct and individual players are not the only factor. Planning, organization and preparation are most important factors.
Reason for individual comparison is because simply we don't have any plan, structure and preparation in our side to compare with them.
Since qualification we have no plan no coach no team. We have been busy discussing this ridicules process of hiring a coach.
As of now even after MOA with coaches none are in Iran, last we heard from Mohammadi in near future Shadidipour will come to Iran to monitor some games...

              Compare that with Qatar
Cordova has been with their team and is Al Rayyan coach constantly monitoring all players closely. Mahdavi Kia /Shadidipour are not in Iran and their knowledge of U23 players are very limited and not close and that is the reason they plan a mini mini training camp on March 17-19 to test new players in reality it's the chance for coach to see them for the first time closely.
No disrespect but Shadidipour has not eatrn that sort of status and coaching respect ...

Mohammadi on behalf of Mahdavi Kia is talking about FIFA days training camp and possible game against an Arab team without explaining their plan for any training in remaining 2 months of April and May when there are ACL, Hazfi cup and PGL games and no FIFA days for training.
Their plan is not a good one and will cost U23 dearly.

IFF has big share in such a poor planning just as previous U23 championships

Dubai Cup-U23 tournament will be held on March 20-29
Uzbekistan, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, China, Iraq. Thailand & Croatia.

                Uzbekistan may not participate.

Iraq has games on March 23,26, & 29 and won't be able to play with Iran during FIFA days.
Iraq had a camp in Turkey and played 3 games earlier.

Unfortunately, Iran is not part of these games.

Jancovic Serbian coach of China U23 announced list of players for Dubai cup.
They already had a training camp on January and will have one week camp in Haiko before going to Dubai.

                  RB:

During qualification RB position was one of weakness of defense line. Hasheminejad is a right winger but played as RB.
At LB, Younes Akbarpour and Jalali are LB specialist, but this year did not get much chance to play ( jalali 23 min, Akbarpour 0 min).
There are alternative for both positions, but we have to wait to see what coach decide. All these 3 players are U21 and expected to be in Hangzhou list.
Ahmadi is a MF player and play for MIS was selected as backup for LB and will be in extended list as well. but for his club he plays as Left winger not a LB.
During last 2 weeks Paykan played Azadeh as RB. Jedi and Jahanbakhsh usually play for Paykan as RB, but both were out, and Azadeh DM & RW replaced them.

If he continues to play as RB, maybe he should be considered as RB alternative. Aa winger Azadeh (u23) is more effective players than Hasheminejad.

                  Week 19 and 20

                  Ahmadi, Hasheminejad & Azadeh

I would feel defensively more secure playing quicker CB out of position at RB than a RW in some cases. Are there any that fit the bill? Houshmand seems mobile enough to do it

Yeah but let's be honest, it really depends on the country too. Something about them representing an Arab country just does not sit well..

Also pretty random how they are both from Asalouyeh ??

Nasiri of MesRaf is swift footed CB who can play as RB.

If coach is not comfortable with fullbacks one solution is to change defense system to back three.
Base on qualification Mahdavi Kia does not prefer back three.

Sina Abdollahi is a good CB/RB, but he has not played well for a while. His team Mashinsazi is at the bottom of liq1

Asalouyeh to Doha is much closer distance from Asalouyeh to Tehran, or Esfahan.

Qatar U23 has another player rooted in Iran Naser Peer bakhsh but not from Asalouyeh. he is also a RB.

Dubai cup to start on March 20, Unfortunately Iran U23 is not part of it.
All Iran can do is to watch may be learn from it.

Both Uzbekistan and Qatar will play, and hopefully Iranian coaches can monitor their games.
Uzbekistan will play Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar will play Thailand and Japan.
They may have more games if they advance.

Those who work hard and put an effort deserve to be rewarded.
Iran U23 has not played since last year but it has not been the case for other countries. Most others have had training camps and games with no excuse of FIFA days.
hopeless situation of U23 is as a result of incompetence officials at IFF and ridicules process of selecting a coach.
For 4 months IFF and Mahdavi Kia negotiated over terms of his contract, even after MOA he has yet to come to Iran to sign his contract. ( Even CQ, Wilmots came to Iran to sign contract).
Unfortunately, since fans and media in Iran are in love with Mahdavi Kia they ignore alarming signs of bad process, bad selection, lack of coherent workable plan.

What would be reaction if coach was a different person?
Since he has accepted being U23 coach now he owns it and the results.
Last time for qualification he came to Iran for first day of 2 weeks training. We still have 2 weeks to the first training on March 17.

Vietnam reached U23 final on 2018. During 2020 they were in group D with UAE, Jordan and NK. They tied with UAE, Jordan but lost in bizare game to NK after receiving an early red card. They have been determined to improve with various training and hard works.

last week they reached final of AFF U23 tournament and defeated speedy Thailand team.

both teams will play at Dubai cup in 2 weeks again.
