According to U23 manager M Mohammedi:

*-John Lammers & Shadidipour will be Mehdi's assistants.
*- GK & Fitness coaches will be Iranian (TBD) to save $.
*- List of 60 players that are eligible for Olympic 2024 are selected for Hangzhou China games.
*- 23 players will be selected from List of lists of 60 players for Hangzhou games.

*- for Asian U23 games there will be 2 training camps.
*- 3 days (17-18-19 March) testing days for liq 1 players & players not in previous training.
*-Main Training camp March 22-29 FIFA days.
*- If possible, prefer to have a friendly with UAE or Qatar in Kish.
*- After end of Liq21, we will have players and training.

Thanks for reaching agreement to continue with U23.


Your idea was over 2 years contract until Olympic Paris 2024, that still may happen, but it will all comes to, June and September games in Uzbekistan and Hangzhou China.

If U23 do satisfactory performance and get results, there will be stronger support for contract extension.
With that in mind you should go to these two tournaments with strongest players.

All players DOB 1/1/1999 are eligible to play in these two tournaments and that should be the criteria for selection with few exceptions.
These players deserve to get their chances and play for Iran, their only chance and short of a good reason, there is no justification that they should not be selected in favor of younger players to get experienced for 2024 Olympic games. Those younger players will get their chance.

If you don't get result now, you may not be a coach by 2024.

Mahdavi Kia will face experienced coaches.
Cordova Qatar U23 coach is also coach of Al Rayyan for past two years
Roshan Uzbekistan coach has been with Uzbekistan U23 for a while and has won 2017 AFC U23 championship.
2017 -. Iran U23 with retarded Peyrovani was eliminated from group stage after losing to Oman.

Mahdavi Kia will have John Lammers a very good coach as assist.
for qualification round against Nepal. Lebanon and Tajikistan he had 3 foreign assistants .

According to Mohammadi with U21 @ Hangzhou and mix 0f U21 & U23 at Uzbekistan.

Mahdavi Kia & Mohammedi in the past insisted to go withU21 players but that has changed (Coach and IFF decision) based on today's news.

Selection of CB players.


List of qualification round include 4 CB players mostly younger players. Falah, Hazbavi, Kor, Abdollahi.
Abdollahi was included because Houshmand was banned.
Kor and Hazbavi were youngest players in the squad and hopefully will make it to Olympic qualification squad next year but are not the best available CB players,

Iran does not have U17 & U20 teams or coaches for over a year and you are head of youth committee and it's your responsibility.
U 20 is back up for U23 Olympic team and you should select Y20 manager & a coach now.

You had your chance with U20 with class of 1988 why not give chance to class of 2022?

Iran in group A will play against Qatar, Turkmenistan and host Uzbekistan in this order.
Although Turkmenistan in a good day can have a surprize but competition is among Uzbekistan, Qatar & Iran.
Both opponents are strong, well prepared and capable of defeating Iran if Iran is not prepared.

Qatar after Qualification played in Waf games and twice with Saudi Arabia with mixed results.Qatar during these games did not play with full strenght including 2 NT players but for June games they will show up strong to win.
Qatar players are mostly had played in U19 and U20 WC games and used to this kind of tournaments. They have strong players in each line specially defense (mostly 22 y).

They will have another tournament in March and good chance for Iranian coach to evaluate them.

Iran's U17 made it to the WC U17 and produce many good players and a TM player. Qatar U20 made it to 2019 U20 WC and 2 players made it to National team starters,
Qatar 2019 U20 team is basically the same as current U23 that Iran will face in Uzbekistan.

Waad & Ahmed both are under 23 and play for Qatar senior team. In recent games of U23 both did not join U23 team but there is a good chance they will against Iran.

Waad is originally Iraqi and has 14 NT caps
Ahmed is a LB with 19 NT Caps
