He did what club asked him to do.
I am disappointed about some of choices and method . He is younger than several in the list and one of most reliable player. I was expecting Mahdavikia personally contact his coach then player to prevent this unhealthy outcome.

hopefully they advance from group and he will rejoin for next phase.

Is this class stronger than previous?

In some areas. I think CM with soltanimehr khodabandelou and yasin is best cm class in years.

I can’t really judge the list Bc this is pre tournament of sorts. Expecting fallah and houshmand to be starting cbs eventually means that I would say CB partnership on paper is a strong or better than previous (aghasi and gholami? I don’t really remember).

Fullback spots this class is weaker.

For wings back then ghayedi was not close to his current level, but still we had strong options. No hosseinzadeh in this list obviously doesn’t reflect the fact he will be a main player for this team shortly. Nokhodkar is quite talented, I would say wings are comparable when delfi comes in too.

If Mahdavikia making it a habit and attending PGL games as he has done this week , this current selection will change in few months.
I don't think he know players well enough yet but he will get there.

Beside selection he has to show his coaching ability.
Last class was more than good to advance from group stage but they has ESTILI...
