The teams we play should reflect the group we have at the World cup. Playing a high profile friendly is good if we want to test our defense and cohesion but otherwise just nice.

Playing vs African teams that press and physical European teams should be the target.

You guys do realise that before WC2006, 2014 and 2018 we had very bad preparations? Ok for 2018 we had Russia, some north african teams and Turkey and for our standards it has to be said it was a good prep. Dont get your hopes high for any good prep for WC2022. To take you down to earth our coach dont have a very good CV to begin with, we should make our coach situation clear. Dont think Skokic is the man for a WC team.

I love playing the game of who Iran can secure a friendly with. We had ten last time, including three in the direct run-up to the WC. I believe the below are all countries that friendlies should be easy for IR to secure based on politics, our match history and yet also reasonable to us to play.:

Russia, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Qatar, South Korea, Bosnia, Montenegro, Nicaragua, Armenia, China, Ghana, Keyna, Congo, Senegal, Nigeria, Belarus

These are all respectable teams to form a friendly list from. Keep in mind the last game is usually against a pushover opponent too. Between Russia, a few former Soviet countries, Eastern European nations and the stronger African countries, we can have a respectable prep and stay within our means. I don't see anything wrong with a Venezuela-Russia-Senegal-Nigeria-Belarus-Bosnia-China-Trinidad-Uzbek prep. With some luck and help from Skocic may we can even bag Croatia!

Below are the teams ranking above Iran that are ranked near us and might realistically fall behind us with a few loses or draws/might still be eliminated from qualifying and help us move into Pot 2.:

Portugal, Italy (one of these two is guaranteed to be eliminated); Senegal (must win after 2 legs vs CQ's Egypt to qualify); Uruguay (currently outside qualification zone); Wales, Sweden (these two are in UEFA playoff)...also Colombia, Mexico and USA, all which appear to be in decent shape and are fairly higher in the rankings above us.

we could also try to play Japan aswell, an organized team who play well, dont try injuring our players, and we wont be in the same group. think they would also want 1 game vs us.

Qatar, Russia, Bosina, Costa Rica/Venezuela, Senegal. would be awsone + one or two bigger teams. Italy/Belgium ish teams to feel theor tempo.. or as they say. calm play tricking to believe its safe, and then they up the tempo like athunderstrike.. those teams are a good prep aswell.

+ one very low ranked team, that doesnt play wreckless injuryprone football. to practice set pieces on, this game locked no broadcast.. we could pay them to play a game, 3 halves x 40 minutes, to rotate full squad

this has started to be more usual for clubs during preeseason.
some eaven play 2 friendlies / day, field 2 squads vs 2 teams.. but thats overkill getting iff to get 2 teams.. rather pay one team play 3x40 minutes then eventually

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the players and coaches of our national team, we finally have some good news. Congratulations to the entire Iranian nation: Iran is going to the FIFA World Cup 2022!

This should be a lesson to that messy poolinejad.

I would also add Croatia (this is a must and Skočić can make it happen), Venezuela, Kenia and Nigeria.

Plus some of the EU countries which are not rabidly anti-Iranian: Ireland, Iceland, Austria and Switzerland.

And the crowning match would be with Portugal. I think we could make that happen!

I think maybe we should re-arrange some of our canceled friendlies like Mali and morocco.

Also what happened to iran vs belgium game? Is it still on? or canceled?

2 European teams . Norway or Finland

2 african teams . Mali and Morocco

2 SA teams. Paraguay and Venezuela


...... But thats wishfull thinking knowing how F*ek our IFF is we probably gonna get Syria , Palestine and uzbekistan

Why not play Egpyt? With CQ and their style of football it could be a good test for our defense in transition play, having to defend a dangerous Salah.

Something like Egypt, Portugal, Iceland, Senegal/Mali, Bolivia/Peru/Chile, Japan would be excellent prep for us I think. Hopefully we can bag some good friendlies.

Our prep for 2018 was about as good as it will ever get for us. Russia, Algeria, Tunisia, Panama, Venezuela, Turkey. All were really good challenges for us. Especially the one against Algeria and Turkey where our defense was truly tested.
