The first match is 16 days away and AFC has not finalized the hosting venues for round 3.
    Go TM!
Thanks for the update as always. I was under the impression that the VAR issue was a requirement, based on previous AFC reports? How can some matches have VAR and others not? Doesn't seem fair/correct. Don't get me wrong, would love to have TM play in Azadi without VAR if that's the only option to see them play there, but I can see the usual suspects raising a stink about it in the last minute to keep TM out of Azadi.

Perhaps it falls under their mandate of not mixing politics and soccer. They tried to import VAR into Iran but sanctions, which is a political tool, stopped them from doing so. I hope that is the reason anyways...

IRIB a**Holes have been holding out on football money for nearly a decade now.
About 10 years ago they signed some sort of MOU saying they will pay, but they haven't paid a cent.

I see your point, and in a fair world, you'd be absolutely on point. But when it comes to Iran, the global parroting of separation of sports and politics does not seem to apply. Remember when TM couldn't buy shoes from Nike for the WC, or when our Olympic athletes were denied a gift cell phone that all athletes got when the Olympics were held in SK? All due to US sanctions. It seems that these same sanctions may keep us from having VAR and thus home matches (worse case scenario).

Yeah, but FIFA did not have control over Nike and olympic committee did not have control over Samsung... It was those private companies' decision. I am hopeful that since AFC was trying to move its own equipment to Iran and was stopped due to sanctions, that it would not punish Iran over that. What a bunch of bullsh*t anyways!!! Why would anyone sanction bringing soccer equipment to Iran on a temporary basis anyways??? Strange world we live in...

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if the VAR equipment is "owned" by AFC or not. If you or I buy 50 iPhones (so we own them), and then try and take them to Iran to give to our family members as gifts, we'd be in jail immediately =)

This asinine thinking also extends to makeup (so I'm sure the VAR equipment would be even more scrutinized):

Iraq NT update: Hussein Ali has been dropped from the NT. He denied complaining about not playing, stating that he asked for a two-day leave to negotiate with a Tunisian club and Advocaat decided he did not need the player to return to the camp.

Advocaat is not messing around !

Pigmots wasn’t messing around either when he cut some of our best players due to their “lack of PT” at their clubs lol

Its interesting that the Australians are yelling and crying, but Ben Williams had no problems to rob Iran against Iraq in Asian Cup 2015.

Iraq NT update: GK Jalal Hassan is ruled out of the South Korea and Iran games due to a knee cartilage tear. Al-Jawiya keeper Mohammed Salih has been called up in his place. Also, Katanec arrived in Tashkent to take charge of the Uzbekistan national team.

What does Australia not being able to play at home due to their extended lockdowns and border shutdowns have to do with what Ben Williams did to Iran?

The Australian FA is having problems with their own federal and state governments who are banning all international travel--not with the AFC.

We are exactly two weeks away from the first Match day 1 of the AFC WC 2022 Round 3 Qualifiers on September 2. Here are the latest updates on hosting. Now https://www.fifa.com/tournaments/men...qualifiers/afc has the correct date for day 1 matches (September 2) and all the host stadiums are posted on the site (you need to click on Round 3 and then expand the September 2 link). the-afc.com does not have any updates and still shows most of the matches happening on September 1 erroneously (this issue of dates appearing a day earlier than the actual date has been a problem with the-afc.com for a long time and their web administrators have not fully fixed it). The fact that fifa.com has the stadiums and has Azadi hosting Iran-Syria on September 2, does not mean that it is final. We still need to wait for final confirmation from AFC and IFF. We only know that IFF has been working on getting IRIB to commit in writing to paying the broadcast rights to all national teams playing in Iran. fifa.com does not have the stadium for Iraq-Iran match on September 7 (second match day of round 3). Varzesh 3 claims that Al Gharafa stadium in Doha has been set for that match. Apparently Iraqi federation is claiming that on Twitter. This has not been independently confirmed by either IFF or the AFC or FIFA. Stay tuned ...

Only in AFC you do not know in the year of 2021 where you play 10 days before your first match. LOL!
