This partnership is so good honestly, both players have great movement and linkup play and seem to have a decent understand of what they are trying to do.

Their dynamic is different from the dzyuba - azmoun partnership, where one is a big hold up player and the other the speedy one. Here, both players have decent pace and physicality and can interchange who steps up and who makes the run in behind.

Its a different type of partnership for sure. Azmoun and Dzyuba link up so much directly. Zenits whole game plan is to get ball to dzyuba either by long ball or through malcom and then have azmoun play 1-2s with him, get to his knockdowns, and in general combine with whatever he does.

Porto have an overarching style of play. Having 2 forwards means their simple presence creates room for the other, but they are not really reliant or even looking for their direct linkup. Often as you say one involves himself in linkup play with mids,wings while the other one gets in good positions in the box.

It is definitely an interesting system and the way they play such high intensity, with and without ball is fun to watch.

Came off at the same time as Sergio. Good 72 minutes by Mehdi. Very active and much more in sync with the rest of the team. Still had some runs where he was calling for passes than never came, but that should come with more experience with his team as they understand his explosive speed during attacks and counter attacks.
