You guys realize that only 4 out of 8 second place teams advance

I know many know this but I know many don't that its only 4 out of the 8 best second placed teams that qualify to the next round of the qualifications. As it stands today things are not looking good for Iran as most groups are very tight and actually 2nd and 3rd placed teams have higher points than Iran. The only way we will top the group is we MUST win all 4 remaining matches. Anything besides that is a coin toss. This is how the 2nd ranked teams look as of today.

    Ranking of runner-up teams

    1. Oman 5 games 12 points
    2. Kuwait 5 games 10 points
    3. Malaysia 5 games 9 points
    4. Bahrain 5 games 9 points
    5. S. Korea 4 games 8 points
    6. Saudi 4 games 8 points
    7. China 4 games 7 points
    8. kyrgystan 5 games 7 points

As you see 3 of the main teams that are ranked 5,6,7 have more points than us and 1 game at hand just like Iran. The only positive I can think of is that Since Qatar is the host and most likely will finish 1st or even at 2nd a fifth number 2 team will get to go through. The groups will be super tight going to the last day. Honestly anything besides winning all remaining matches if not looking good for us. Even 1 loss and we are doomed as teams will pass us.

If you go look at even 3rd placed teams now there are some such as Jordan and a few others that have more points than Iran.

At the end of the day things are not looking good!

Don't get your hopes up folks.
All Bahrain needs to do is hold Iran to draw.

if we win our next three matches, even with just the minimum goal difference, than we will have minimum +17 goals before the iraq match. so the minimum goal difference will be +17 while we will minimum scored 20 goals as we have now 17:3 goals. even with a draw (means 16 points, +17goals and scored +20 goals) we can be a good candidate for advancing as second team, but we have now to make our homework. more goals and all 3 points increases our chance percentually... i think that with 16 points, minimum +17 goals difference and scored minimum 20 goals we will qualify for the next stage. I guess we can score even more and higher our goals and goals difference compared to the minimum i point out for you. but better to win two final matches vs. bahrain and iraq and teach them and their fans a lession....

We need 4 consecutive wins. 3 in Tehran against Honk Kong, Bahrain and Iraq and 1 away against Cambodia. And by the way the game with Iraq is our last game and is in June 2020. Lots of time to get prepared. No excuses!
We have 6 points now + the 12 (4x3) from 4 wins = 18 pts. We will go to next round like a proud team on top of the fcking table and wont be praying like losers anymore.
Willy better move his ass, whatever he has to do with this team. ARJ and Saeed better get some playing time. Shojaee, please say good bye gracefully.
If this doesn't happen, then we better pack and go home and focus on another sport that we are truly good at.

    a) If IRAQ wins all 3 remaining matches means beating IRAN in Azadi
    b) If BAHRAIN wins 2 matches and lose to IRAN in AZADI
    c) If IRAN wins 3 matches and loses to IRAQ - it will be
    IRAQ - 20 points
    BAHRAIN - 15 points
    IRAN - 15 points.
it means that Iran must beat Bahrain at least with more then 1 goal (2-0) or BAHRAIN might go away, cause it will be goal difference if it ends with 1-0 for IRAN.

So today's result gave us much better perspective to top this group eventually, we got really lucky that the results worked in our advantage.

The scenario is pretty straight forward if you ask me:
    - TM must win all 4 games.
    - TM will advance to the next round of WCQ.
    - No need for further calculations, since we still control our own destiny.

Math this and math that.. come on people we are physically out and the way the country is going I am not sure how the regime will let in 100000 of the same protesters to be openly watched live by the whole world in an official competition. If you think the-ever-hiding IR will let this happen? no way. Mr. Denier and his Pinocchios will deny any wrong doing and cancel every game to save face in front of the world.

I am afraid something important has to happen within this month or the IR will make us lose all our competitions and will only focus on wining their own do or die match against the people of Iran.

Iraq lose to Bahrain, beat HK and Cambodia and then lose to Iran 16pts
Iran win all 4 games (which we should as we play both Iraq and Bahrain at home) 18pts..
There's a lot of if's in the above scenario. The tie would allow the least number of points to either team, and a win for Iraq would keep Iran within catchup range to Bahrain. It's simple odds of coming out of the group.
