One big misconception about being down a man is that it doesn't hinder your ability to defend, rather it hinders your ability to attack. Especially if a team is ahead before they go down, its not at all a problem to sit into a deeper block and concede the fact that they won't be able to create much up front.
tough game for mehdi. he wasn't getting fed much. he was making great runs all day, and even had a run that turned into a goal but was rightfully called offsides (very slightly).
at the end he was coming back and asking for the ball to get some link-up play going, but the team overall did no look like they were going to score.
They didnt look like their usual self. (Defense looked shitty as usual though).
The main reason I could think of was the weather. Was 90+F in the area they were playing, much hotter than rio ave's home games near the water. They looked like they really lacked life and urgency with the ball. Season would normally be done by now so teams woudnt be concerned with weather at all.
The opponent was no pushover and played very fast and smart football. They marked Mehdi tight all game, and he nearly worked his magic with getting their captain Red Card, then had one smart lay off for goal that was called back for offsides, and one great outside of boot pass for the other forward who fucked up a 1v1 (this chance was onsides).
Last game took out their energy, it was end to end and high scoring. Also games every 3-4 days in the heat of summer.
True.... However, they were up by an extra man for most of the game! And I didn't see Mehdi stop hustling and he played 90 minutes in both games. I'm still not impressed by Rio's overall performance today (Taremi was a one-man show today).
According to the information we handle at TodoFichajes. Benfica has intensified negotiations for Rio Ave footballer Mehdi Taremi. The International for Iran has been one of the most outstanding players in the Portuguese League and his name has been on Lisbon's agenda for a long time.
Benfica has put € 7M on the table to try to convince the club chaired by António Campos and they expect to receive a response soon."
at 7 mil EU fee around 2.8 will go to taremi himself. Obviously some of that will go to agents and intermediaries, but still a great bonus for him after such a fantastic season.

Indeed
A great means of attaining ham khar & khorma ..! This way he challenged and improved himself in a formidable EU league & made bank without having to resort to ashghal ayrab leagues or IPL ..!
Now let’s hope they wrap this deal up quickly before Benfica hire their new coach, cause that surely could throw a monkey wrench in this deal...!?
