A nice double cut move by Gholi, but his shot's blocked by the defender.

Nice footwork by Gholi, selling the fake but his shot gets blocked

great chance for gholi. Probably should have shot first time with left but cut in flooring defender with nice fake, but another defender managed to get a crucial block.

GOAL MORIOKA. idiot brugge cb passes ball right to charleroi's japanese mind of the team, who finished cleanly into corner.

Is Gholi playing in a CAM role? Would be great to develop him as a CAM for TM

Charleroi beat Club Brugge 1-0! Nice win for the first match of the season, against the defending champs, on the road, without their best player (Kaveh).

And it's always good to see Club Brugge lose for sabotaging Kaveh's career.

                        LOL Club Brugge

I failed to see why Kaveh is not a starter for Brugge. They looked toothless upfront.

he was kind of playing everywhere. First half a combination of RW/CAM, but when he was on the right he was very inverted as a CAM.

Second half more of an orthodox LW helping stretch brugge backline on the break and provide relief to charleroi defensive block.

OVerall its telling that even as game went down to wire and charleroi got lead, gholi was not subbed (even morioka, others were). He has definitely progressed a ton from the fantasty player he was in iran. Now coach trusts him to do a defensive job and preserve lead for team. He was great in 50/50's, picking up loose balls. Nearly had an assist and a goal. A couple times I felt he could have done more on the break when he was 1v1 or even 1v2 with brugge defenders but he ran his balls off so was a bit tired at the end to try any of his classic skills.

Charleroi will be a formidable team again this season especially with Kaveh+Gholi combo that I think will blossom in EL too. Their LB replacement is a very solid player and maybe even upgrade (they sold nurio to compete with milad at gent for a nice 6mil). Plus the team got an additional 8-9mil from osimhen to napoli sale (they included sell on clause when they sold him to lille). Another wad of prize money for qualifying for europa group stages proper will mean bayat will have made a nice 20-30 mil EU this summer, and basically replaced his star LB with an existing LW/utility player in the squad and extended KAveh's loan.

and as others have said, not sure why brugge discarded kaveh. He looks better than any of their CF's, especially in terms of technique and game IQ. Hope he proves all the doubters wrong again this season which I am sure he will.

Got to really hand it to Karim Belhocine and what he's done with this team, almost as if Felice Mazzù had never left the team with all the great results he has been getting. Both great managers and Felice Mazzù deserves much better than to be managing a team in the Belgian 2nd division!
