Disregarding any surprise from H K & Cam , 12 points from next 4 games will make Iran first or second of group depend on today's result.
The is not true. If you look at the current standings, it is unlikely that four separate 2nd place teams will finish 16 points or more and higher goal difference than TM. Therefore, TM does not have to finish with 18 points to have a chance to advance. 16 points will likely be enough.

Of course St Mark is right. We need to go to 18 points or we are lost. Winning all 4 games, 3 of them at home, would normally be quite doable, but with Wilmots, this will not happen.

I hope Hong Kong can somehow draw Iraq in march, the ranking could be like this than:

            Iran 12
            Iraq 12
            Bahrain 12

and then we go to the june hot weeks..

For us to go anywhere Wilmots must go. Nothing will get better with this man incharge. As if we did not have sanctions and friendly problems Before, this is nothing new for us. This Belgian guy dont give a shit about TM, all he cares about is his Money.

No, he is not. There is a very strong possibility that 16 points will be enough to go through. There is even a possibility that 15 points will be enough.

It is not that complicated. Take a look at the potential second place teams in Japan's group, Australia's group, and South Korea's group and explain how they can get 17 or more points.

I just watched a VERY interesting video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3YgyJJz3Wo
Apparently Taj wanted CQ to stay, but the sports ministry pressured Taj not to renew CQ's contract. Taj defied the sports ministry and extended CQ's contract with 6 months. CQ said he didn't know about it when he signed the extension, and wouldn't have done it if he knew that the sports minister wanted him out. Maybe that was his reason for resignation. What happened between CQ and the sports ministry? Why did they hate him so much?

I'm also hoping for this. Considering Iran only beat HK 2-0 in HK, and Iraq only beat them 2-0 in Iraq, it's definitely a possibility.

Nonetheless, we must win our games, although I'm not too optimistic, which is why I'm hoping for an Iraq-HK draw.

There are 64 games remain, 8 in each group. The only sure scenario for Iran to advance is 18 points (12 from next 4 games) and every other scenario is just a possibility.

In realm of possibilities one can not be sure of any outcome
I did not expect Saudi to tie with Palestine and Yemen , nor I considered Qatar at home tie with India

Anyone watch Rahman Rezaei grilling Alavi on the air?

“Nobody understands what Wilmots contract says. Nobody knows what type of contract it is. Our national team’s head coach is staying in Turkey and waiting to get paid. What kind of contract is this?

“We’ve had many difficult situations but our coaches and players didn’t focus on money but rather the importance of the match ahead. We gotta prepare and complete this camp. How is it that after 8 years of experience and lessons learned with Queiroz situations, we don’t learn from our mistake and offer a contract like this?”

“Then you make an excuse that our players didn’t arrive. When the football federation emails clubs, the player HAS to come. The player doesn’t say I’m gonna wait here a few days then I’ll come when I feel like it (not sure which legionnaire he was referring to here). Nothing like this exists, Mr. Alavi.. When I was in Italy and Dadkan sent me an email, we had to abide by the rules and come.”

Lol Rezaei was never our best CB. He scored that own goal, helped Mexico score in the World Cup. I mean he was decent. He was inconsistent.

But damn, he nailed Alavi against the wall with a hammer with his critical questioning and analysis on our current situation.

Imagine getting payed 3 months in advance while Iranian people are dying on the streets because of economic hardships. Imagine you then lose to Bahrain and Iraq and you refuse to come do your job. Just imagine how you’d be perceived by fans.
