I prefer Ahmad+Omid over Rouzbeh+Omid when the team goes to defensive fold. Ahmad is a pretty good sharpshooter if he is given the chance. He had a very nice shot in last ACL quarterfinal match.

      --JB------Sardar-----Taremi

I don't think there's a huge gap in quality between our bench players and our starters, and the only real untouchable players are Beiro and Sardar. Considering we just played a few days ago, and if we win, inshallah, we will play again on Monday, perhaps CQ will use a rotation for this match, such as:

      Vouria for Ramin
      Kanani for Hosseini
      Torabi for JB
      Saman for Taremi

I have been constantly thinking about the Kanani vs Hosseini dilemma and who CQ will go with. I estimate CQ will go with Majid since he's the better player. However, Kanani might give our team the best chance to win right now as each game is a final for us, we need to field our best team. Majid has had some errors that could have cost us dearly in two of his three starts, I think that counts for something.

As for JB vs Torabi, I still think Torabi can contribute more to our team currently than JB can, and I hope JB doesnt play so he isn't rushed back from his long injury. Starting 3 matches in a row in such a short timeframe isn't easy on a recovering body.
      Nice try Marcello Lippi!

The first link is the history of all games Iran has played against China. The first time I ever watched a Iran national game football match was the game listed on there in 1988 where Iran defeated China in a PK shootout 3-0 to become 3rd in the Asian Cup. The next 2 matches that I remember as a kid are when Iran played China again for a WC qualifier in the following year where Iran at firs lost 2-0 on the road and had to have a must win. What's crazy is that Iran took a 3-0 lead in Azadi and then gave a stupid PK where a guy stopped the ball with both hands on top of his head and got a red card I believe and then another goal scored by China 2 minutes later. It was a very sad day for me as Iran got kicked out and did not go to the next round.

Now that I am looking at that game after 30 years which I have put the link to Wiki to those 1990 qualifiers you can see that China still had a game at hand against Thailand and and any margin of Victory had them passing Iran. They scored twice in minutes 2 and 4 which seems fishy to me. What I don't get is why DIDNT the teams play their last group game at the same time? That does not make sense at all. Anyways a long time has passed and I still hold a grudge against China. For that and also 2004 Asian cup for eliminating us with cheating. We really need to hand their asses to them tomorrow.

^ they still aren't playing the final qualifiers at the same time in AFC, so what to expect back then?

The Chinese have 16x our population and have been able to find very good players.

            We are definitely the underdogs.

if CQ & TM live by their claimed mantra of taking it "1 game @ a time " & " treating each game as a final" and focus their pre-game preparations solely on the immediate opponent @ hand, then i really dont see too difficult of a task seeing off China tomorrow and narrowly winning the likely Japan clash in the semi's..!

i think CQ can be Somewhat experimental with our starting line-up tomorrow too, due to the Yellow card situation, but not nearly as much as he was vs Iraq, which nearly back-fired ...!

This would be my suggested starting line up and subs if things on the pitch develop as expected (which hardly ever does..!! )
we can ill-afford not to start Ashkan, but hopefully with game under control for most part Massoud/More likely Samman can come off the bench in 2nd half much sooner than last game to give him a much needed rest in anticipation of the ?next game?..!
Ansarifard probably needs to be given a start down a wing and possibly full 90 in place of Taremi? to find his feet and get going full speed as well, but a lot of running and pressing will be expected of him in absence of Amiri too..! or a less risky option will be to start Torabi in place of Taremi, which is a more likely gamble by CQ, if he even risks not starting Taremi due to his yellowCard situation..??

              ------------Bey---------
              Vouria--PAG--Kanani--Milad
              -Omid----HajSafi/nourolahi/cheshmi
              ARJ---Dejagha--Ansarifard
              ---------Azmoun-------

              subs; Samaan for Dejagha
              Torabi for ARJ
Cheshmi for HajSafi to seat in front of the back 4 and sure up the back-line against Areal threats of a hopefully desperate to come back from behind chinese in dying minutes of the game..!

I expect a 2:0 WIN easy from Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Sardar Azmoun.

I hope we not make the some mistake as in Asian Cup 2004 against China:

that is a total bs and fairly certain calculated move by AFC to cater to their favoritisms..!!
im surprised CQ/IFF havent yet lodged a formal complaint against it..!!

actually that is a scary sign for me ..! it dramatically increases the chances of Bookies corrupting the refs etc. in anticipation of a huge pay-day..!!
betting on Football/sports is a HUGE business in China especially..!! about a 100 times more popular than the game itself..!

If corruption can land you a (8-9 to 1) winning rate its a huge amount to be made. Its crazy. I hope there is no corruption and things go as planned.

when you click on Iran game tomorrow just scroll down slightly. There will be two screens on top of each other and with the lower one having a (Play) symbol on there. It will also have the name of the game listed below it. Just click that once and wait for the game to start. No pop-ops or anything.
