Asian Cup 2019 Day #6 Commentary:

Day #6 was the start of putting the round of 16 into perspective. Jordan was not only the news maker of day for being the first team to secure its advancement to the next round, but also confirmed its status as the sensation of this tournament so far for winning against the reigning champions Australia and hopefuls Syria, both of which are now in a do-or-die battle on the third and final round of group stage against each other. Iran will be watching how this group develops closely. The final standing of this group would determine whether Iran will meet the third place team from Group B , E or F. A win by Australia would potentially eliminate the third place team from this group from advancing and Iran will be looking to face the third place team from groups E or F, however a win by Syria would translate into a possibility that Iran and Australia will be facing off in round of 16. A draw that neither side would be happen to see this early in the tournament. In the other two games, the hosts were able to salvage their disappointing result on day one and re-establish their position in the group, while Thailand appeared to have emerged from the ashes to beat Bahrain and keep hopes alive for reaching the next round.

With Group B pretty much out of the question for 3rd place..... If we top our group we will face the third place from either the E or F group ... so most likely either Lebanon/North korea, or Turkeministan/Oman.

Jordan is now 99% secured the top place in the group (only Palestine can take them with 2 wins which is highly unlikely) and will play with reserve players in last group match, and most of Jordanian players have Palestinian heritage. I think that's highly possible they "let" Palestine win that match and qualify as one of the best 3rd placed teams. and beside that Palestine is good enough to beat the Jordan reserve team.

Australia has very average record playing Arab countries in Middle East since joining AFC

What do we think for tomorrow's group C matches? Any chance that either Philippines/Kyrgyzstan will get anything?

I'm curious if Kyrgyz coach will start their brain dead goalie again !

Jordan looks really though Team to beat. They are def. the dark Horse in the Tournament. I would rather play
Korea or Japan than Jordan.

This is the team we need to play and beat as IRan are even tougher, enough Mickey mouse teams like Yemen, Vietnam or North Korea, we need a strong challenge to toughen up the boys and get them ready for Japan or KSA!!
