Part of the India/Chetri hype comes from a campaign he started to try and get Indian support for the team prior to the AC, i even remember a couple of the articles being published. It’s important and healthy for football that countries like India start to invest more and care more about the sport, and I am glad that their national team is starting to improve. Raising the standard of play in Asia is not a bad thing.

As for the other two, how do you know we wouldn't "hype" them? They aren't playing now so there's nothing to talk about. India literally just finished their game so that's why we are talking about them. When Vietnam plays (apart from against us) then I'll be really keen to see if they can do something the way India just did now.

Dude I haven't followed any hype this is just my own feeling, why are you getting antsy about this?

1) I really hope either/both UAE and Bahrain don't qualify from this group, I mean do you support them over Thailand and India?
2) I've slowly seen India's football infrastructure improve and so was predicting them to cause a few upsets at some point. It's healthy for all of asian football if smaller teams improve, I'd feel the same if other teams did this
3) Football is very big in certain specific parts of India so I guess its good for them to get their team do well
4) Especially in britain, a lot of us have friends who are of subcontinental origin if we work in fields like medicine, engineering, finance etc... so its cool to be able to talk to them. One of my friends is from the same city as Chetri so its cool to tell him that he is now the second biggest international goalscorer below Ronaldo. He did the same to me when Daei was top scorer evne though he doesnt like football.

Vietnam f.e. won the southasian championship, Syria had a decent performance last WCQ, Iraq won 2017 AC
and there was not hype like that around.

The Sunil Chetri stuff is a joke.

A lot of people mess around in FIFA and since India has a 1/2 star rating its fun to play as them versus teams like Germany/Brazil.

The rest is because India has a billion people and the sport needs to grow there.

Thailand used to even become as 2nd rated team in Asia in 2000 and caused TM some issues sometime. Specially at their home due to high humidity. This Thailand team really sucks. Football is changing and the gap between teams is not that much.

Under Rajevac the way Thailand played was very different from their WC qualifying campaign and people weren't happy with his approach. Surely he will be out after this
