One thing is for sure, Asian teams rarely can score more than one goal against Iran.
That's in all competitions. Teams that have done it in the last few years have all been
West Asian teams, Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Jordan and Saudi to be exact.
Furthermore, the last time an East Asian team scored 2 against Iran was back in
2007 AC when Iran drew 2-2 with China.

That's what I always wonder. They have played Iraq plenty of times, be it friendlies or official matches. Same with Oman, UAE and pretty much all Persian Gulf States. It's really interesting how and why we have never faced them since our 1997 encounter.Originally posted by diz View PostFun fact:
Australia have never faced Iran since becoming a part of the Asian Confederation with the last meeting being the World Cup play-off in 1997 where TM ended the Socceroos campaign.

Yes that's what I said too. Syria scored 2 against us in Tehran too. But it is still veryOriginally posted by Firooz View PostLast asian cup iran was scored on 3 times by Iraq.
rare event for any Asian team even for West Asian teams.
The point is if East Asian teams have any aspiration of beating Iran they need
to stop Iran from scoring since the frequency of them scoring 2 on Iran is one match
every 12 years. That's what the statistics tell us.

In any sport, Aussies talk big when winning or on top but when lose or about to lose they keep silent. Aussies have the same mentality as other sour losers like UK, France, Russia & Former Soviet Union countries, Mexico, Argentina, Italy, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, etc. They do not want to remember about their losses. Team Melli is still a nightmare for them. Having said this, they are not vengeful like Korea Republic, Uruguay/Latin American countries or some European countries who when they lose all they think about is revengeOriginally posted by Keano View PostThat's what I always wonder. Son scored again yesterday. He has been in beast mode for a month, which is good news for us. He is a great player but one of his problems is that he is too inconsistent. Once he loses his form, he usually takes a long break to return to his best.Originally posted by Leicester City View PostHe will go to Asian Cup when their match against Man Utd begins

South Korea and Tottenham have agreed that Son only needs to link up with his international teammates in time for the start of the knockout stage.
This is pretty bold of SK, to basically assume they will make the KO stage without Son (though they likely will). Not sure how it will bode for SK team unity and/or rhythm to have Son not participate in the group stages at all. Even with our injured players (ARJ, Golizadeh), they are at least there with the team and doing partial workouts, which is what I would expect for any potential players in the tournament.
