In terms of goals that gave us the championship, I rank this 3rd. The 1976 tournament was a weakened one with teams withdrawing and us not taking it as serious by sending our strongest lineup due to our participation in the Olympics. To me the 1968 championship and Ghelichkhani's winner was more important as it gave us our first title, it was a come from behind victory and the opponent was (at the time) a heated rival of ours and a former champion. I rank 1972 higher than 1976 as well as it was hard fought in the final, on neutral ground and achieved during overtime.Originally posted by Adesor Vafaseya View PostI went to Sharif University. Wow -- Karim's goal is absolutely fantastic.
Cannot believe we gave away this goal after back-to-back mistakes (Goalkeeper touching it out to go for corner) and Daei fanning on the ball in front of the net ... all in the 90th and 91st minute for them to tie ..
We really lacked the winner's mentality.
